Very sad to hear this. Nursey delivered one of my favorite lines in Blackadder from the episode Beer.

 

"You're having so many good ideas you should be careful your foot doesn't fall off"

 

"Is that what happens then when you have lots of good ideas?"

 

"Oh yes. My brother had the good idea of cutting his toenails with a scythe......... and his foot fell off"

I never found The New Statesman as funny as it thought it was but I did like the character of his office colleague Piers Flectcher-Dervish (Michael Troughton) but I am now very worried that both our Prime Minister and Chancellor appear to be him.

I was being sarcastic when I said "the worst thing about it would be no new episodes of The New Statesman". Not sure if the people who clicked "like" on my post realised that. In fact I don't think they did at all. Well there you go, just thought I'd clarify that for freedom of information/full disclosure purposes.

 

I thought people thought it was a rather tame satire and a bit naff, especially after it has aged a lot. But nevermind...
