would have been Maggie Thatchers 90th birthday on Tuesday. I guess this is an early present for her...

I am sure she would have preferred anyone else in her cabinet to join her except of course Heseltine and Lawson and of course all the living wets.

To be honest I do not think we should be kicking ourselves over a big miss. He had been to a Jazz concert (foolish man) and died of a what is suspected as being a heart attack when he returned home. This could apply to any number of Ministers from that era and others were probably looking more shaky than him.

If he had been included I wouldn't have batted an eyelid but if asked for someone from that era to go on the list I would probably have gone for Douglas Hurd.

I think the UK Politicians who we should seriously consider for next year are:

Peter Carrington (Born 1919)

Baronness Trumpinton (Born 1922)

Patrick Jenkin (born 1926)

Jim Prior (born 1927)

Grevile Janner (born 1928)

Douglas Hurd (born 1930)

Roy Hattersley(Born 1932)
