Ulitzer95 12,620 Posted May 24, 2020 Going to cut 70s B into four sections as it is so long and will take a while to do. Here's the first part: B B. Bumble and the Stingers Wiki American group of session musicians who were replaced by a "promotional band" for touring purposes following their success in the U.S., drummer Don Orr died in December 1994 after falling down a flight of stairs at home Session muscians: Jan Davis 04 Nov 1939 – 02 May 2014 (74) René Hall 26 Sep 1912 – 11 Feb 1988 (75) FindAGrave memorial Ali Hazan 07 Nov 1934 – 02 Mar 2019 (84) Local obit Earl Palmer 25 Oct 1924 – 19 Sep 2008 (83) NY Times obit Promotional members: Terry Anderson 24 Nov 1941 – Living R. C. Gamble 03 Nov 1941 – 02 Aug 2008 (66) Jimmy King (aka Lou Josie) 14 Jul 1936 – Living Don Orr 16 Sep 1938 – 28 Dec 1994 (56) 19/04/1962 Nut Rocker #1 NB: Lots of wrong info on the internet about who actually performed on this record but this site sets the record straight. As for the promotional members who toured in the UK for the record, again lots of confusion but this Facebook page set up by Terry Anderson himself confirms the four names who toured in the UK. There is also a comment from Orr's son on a post confirming that he is dead, and a full date of death on his own page. This obituary for a Jimmy King (1950–2019) claims to be the one in the band, which is silly as he would've been just 13 when they disbanded! As per this the real Jimmy King was actually Lou Josie (but Ancestry records confirm he was born in 1936, two years earlier than the age he publicly used). Birth details for Anderson are from his Facebook. Archie Marr: IIRC, the band went down to a four piece for the album containing their last two or three singles. However, certainly on the vid for It's A Game, there's 5 folk playing, probably not on the track if it was lifted from the album. Session?
YoungWillz 21,046 Posted May 25, 2020 Further Bay City Rollers info seems to indicate that Gordon "Nobby" Clark was the vocalist on Keep On Dancing, born 10 September 1950. There's also some indication that Jonathan King did the backing vocals!!! This article from the Scottish Sun contains a pic of Pat McGlynn, who if I'm not mistaken is the mysterious 5th member on the It's A Game video - doubtful he played on the track though. Managed to find a few more sources and get lineups for all singles cept Love Me Like I Love You. And if you see above, I got birth details, to some extent, for all them cept John Devine. All I know is he was born in Edinburgh and was turfed out to be replaced by a 17 year old (Tam Paton did like 'em young so would suggest that Devine was maybe a year or two older).

According to Twitter Harry Williams was alive in January, releasing a record: In 2019, this was posted to Facebook showing Williams performing from a wheelchair: Gawd alone knows how you trace a Harry Williams from Missouri, but there my trail ends. According to his LinkedIn, his name is Eddie James Summers. Klunis seems to be a stage name. On Ancestry there’s an Eddie J Summers who married a Laura Broomfield in L.A. in 1966. He was born in Cherokee, Texas on 23 Aug 1947. If a book or an article etc. can link any of these details, then it’s him. Nothing comes up for “Edward” in place of Eddie.

YoungWillz 21,046 Posted June 3, 2020 Blue Mink. There's a lovely full interview with Ann Odell here from July 1973: https://worldradiohistory.com/UK/Record-Mirror/70s/73/Record-Mirror-1973-07-21-S-OCR.pdf Now that interview says she was 25 so that puts her dob firmly in the 1947/48 bracket. From other information gleaned it appears her father was Jack (John William) Odell. There's some biographical information on him here: http://www.matchboxhistory.com/jack-odell-biography-p1.php
YoungWillz 21,046 Posted June 3, 2020 Brass Construction. Ah, those Jamaicans again! All I can do is dance round with the hope that this information leads you somewhere. Firstly, it's Wade Williamston (not Williamson). Seems to be a founder member and there is an article here which narrows down the area of formation to Brownsville, Brooklyn: https://worldradiohistory.com/Archive-Record-World/70s/76/RW-1976-04-24.pdf Wayne Parris - Now this may be sheer coincidence, but here is an obituary for Norman Parris: https://www.allensummerhillfuneralhome.com/obituaries/Norman-Parris2/#!/Obituary who died back in 2013, but which references a younger brother called Wayne - trumpeter and musician! Now there's plenty of family information there if the deceased was in fact his older brother. As for the others, I am lost.

YoungWillz 21,046 Posted June 3, 2020 Brian and Michael. First question is - did Kevin Parrot re-record the song with Mick Coleman, before it went out? Apparently not, so Brian Burke bogs off to settle down and I'm assuming gets a performer's royalty on a song he never promoted. There's a ton of information on Mick Coleman though: https://www.questmedianetwork.co.uk/news/tameside-reporter/nostalgia-chart-topping-lowry-tribute-in-1978/ https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artists/l-s-lowry-1533/lowry-painted-my-life-so-i-sang-about-his https://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk/news/whereyoulive/10346658.brian-and-michael-make-their-return-in-urmston/ Most recently is this from April 2020: http://www.tamesidecorrespondent.co.uk/2020/04/17/musician-mick-coleman-puts-admiration-for-nhs-into-song-by-re-working-matchstalk-men-hit/ Now that says he is 74 and resident in Gee Cross. He has a daughter Tamlah, a wife Dheveranee and a brother Tim Coleman with whom he performs. If that doesn't get you somewhere, there's no hope. I haven't looked into Kevin Parrott. Her Twitter account is protected so I don't know how active that is.
