To be honest, I was quite hesitant to make it as a game just like the oldest state leaders alive where everyone can choose a candidate between the remaining one, but maybe a simple topic about is enough ? Let me know if a game sounds interesting for you ! Fantomasss 209 Posted June 25, 2020 Je pense que ce topic n'est que pour des français donc autant répondre en français x) Pour ma part j'ai misé sur trois académiciens cette année: Giscard d'Estaing pour son importance, René de Obaldia pour son grand âge et Jean-Denis Bredin pour avoir lu un article autour de l'affaire Tapie et qui disait qu'il n'était plus que l'ombre de lui-même... Out of them, Vargas Llosa is the oldest and so the first one to go I think but there's many other ones who are frailer (Nora, Carrère d'encaisse, Fernandez, De Broglie…). Also, while I'm at it, I red in the Dictionnaire de la Mort (which I talked about here recently) some interesting things about academicians. Apparently, French author and adventurer Louis Antoine de Bougainville (wiki) wanted to be elected at the Académie and plaid for his election to Charles Pinot Duclos (wiki) who was at the time the perpetual secretary of the Academie. While stating that he was really sick and that he won't have long to live, Duclos sassily answered back that "the academie doesn't provide the last sacrament". Those kind of quip are so funny to me. On the contrary, when Pierre Laujon (wiki) wanted to be elected in the Academie, he did the same thing as Bougainville, stating to Jacques Delille (wiki) that he was dying and Delille answered "Hey ! Gentlemen, we all know where he's going to, let him make it through the academie first". He thus was elected and died 4 years later. Anyway, a sad loss with the passing of De Obaldia, I was just seing ads on the subway for his new play about his centenary last week.
