Super Gran dead according to Scottish Facebook fan chatter? :(

Well, there's only this on the Twitter:

Probably need the papers or a decent Scottish celeb report.

Carol Jennings, Alzheimer's campaigner and activist and honorary VP of The Alzheimer's Society, reportedly dead aged 70:

Began to show signs of the disease as long ago as 2008.

Just finished watching the documentary on The Jennings Vs Alzheimers on BBC2 this evening. All the more poignant given I knew what was coming at the end.

Let's hope that the generations to come will eradicate or be able to control this disease.

  3. Chairman Emeritus of The Irving Group Arthur Irving, reportedly dead: https://www.irvingoil.com/en-CA/press-room/irving-oil-announces-the-passing-its-chairman-emeritus-arthur-l-irving

His brother James was picked this year. However, Arthur Irving last picked in 2017 by, yes you guessed it, Blueberry Crumble. So another for the List of the Missed @Death Impends https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2017/celebs_I.html#irvia0

    Cyril Wecht (wikidead at 93.

Dedicated his life essentially to debunking the single bullet theory and questioning the pathology and autopsy reports.

Whatever you may say, his arguments really stand up, but the cover up continues. *sigh* We will soon be without these voices.

Sunackered is about to make a pre-election speech in about 10-15 mins time, setting out that we’re at a crossroads and to please “vote for a secure future with the Conservatives” et fucking cetera.

Until he actually calls the election, all these shitty interventions of his will be a complete waste of everyone’s time.

Wants to build on the success of the last 14 years.

He's laughing at you. He's pissing on your chips (assuming you can afford to buy them).

It's all too dangerous out there. We know Sunak, look at knife crime. Look at the reduction in Army numbers. Look at our leaky borders which Rwanda does nothing to fix.

Was watching Alfred Hitchcock Presents (later called The Alfred Hitchcock Hour) earlier, and was curious to see who's still around.

Of the 361 episodes that aired from 1955 and 1965, only two of its many directors are still living: George Stevens Jr. (wiki, born 1932) and Lewis Teague (wiki, born 1938).

Of its cast, the following (with Wiki pages) are still living:

    Mark Damon (wiki, born 1933)

The most recent cast members to die were Jackie Loughery (wiki, 1930–2024) and William O'Connell (wiki, 1929–2024).

  7. Well done Switzerland and Croatia!!

What a horrific competition that actually made the better numbers do well, now  I can sleep well knowing the nonsense did not matter.

I still wish Netherlands had a fair shake at the vote, another top 3 or 4, that number will be the real winner, no doubt.

Keith Burkinshaw (Spurs manager 1976-84) spotted watching their match today versus Newcastle. Looks pretty good for 88. Can't be all that many people who managed in the top flight of English football in the 1970s still alive. I can think of Lawrie McMenemy, Gordon Milne, Ron Atkinson, Alan Durban, Tony Book, Wilf McGuinness and Burkinshaw. There must be a few more but not many.

Gordon Jago, George Eastham, Richard Dinnis, Frank Sibley, Frank McLintock, Johnny Giles and John Barnwell also from a very quick search.

  9. I wonder if some of the other delegations will refuse to participate now. They could easily break the competition by refusing to go on stage just as they are called.

(We all know how the Israeli secret service work, wouldn't surprise me if there have been shenanigans - idle speculation obviously).

On social media part of the Israeli delegation have been bullying and threatening other countries on social media. Things being said include:

About Greece - "Representatives of Greece, I hope you slept well at night"

About Netherlands - "No anti-semitic has the right to sing or breathe next to us and won't come close." and "The Dutch representative doesn't like us and asked us not to take his picture"

I've also seen something about Spain and Ireland in the last 12 hours.

Again, there have been some reports of audience members subjected to harassment. However, EBU's zero tolerance doesn't extend quite that far.

All this could have been avoided though. I've tried to judge on the music and the artists, but this really ends my 50 year love affair with the competition.

  10. Regardless of absolutely everything, all I know is I barely remember Israel's entry, whereas I have been spontaneously bursting into "Euro-pa-pa papapapapa" all day. And if I had a cat, I'd meow back at it.

There's so much to enjoy this year, and I am determined to go to my mates' house for the party and enjoy it.

I remember the news broke when we were on a day out and there were adults crying their eyes out over his death. Hard to imagine that for a current politician.

Closest in my time was a glass raised in the pub to Robin Cook.

A glass raised in the pub in tribute to Charles Kennedy didn't feel appropriate given the circumstances!

On the day Thatcher died, I raised a glass. Actually several. The celebration that she was well and truly gone from this Earth went on all afternoon.

  13. Well, I'd rather not be posting here about this.

A facepalm or angry reaction for example could be a reaction to the message contained within the post, rather than a reaction to the user and the fact that something has been posted. Now I'm not saying that certain users may use the reactions in that way.

I rarely use those anyway,  but I believe that is the way they should be used and perhaps not taken personally.
