I'm a fan of asking people what they would like. Surprises are overrated. -
Who Do You Think Will Be Elected President Of The United States In 2016?
Toast replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I think 'who' is correct, because the main verb (elect) is passive. You wouldn't say "Do you think me will be elected?", you would say "Do you think I will be elected?" etc Or if you take out "do you think" and substitute "in your opinion", it's definitely "who". 'Whom' is greatly overused nowadays, often wrongly. It's a word that had almost completely fallen out of use, but has had a big revival. I'm not sure why. -
LFN is a Lord. Lords live on a different kind of estate.

Judging by my local community Arsebook pages, cats are always going missing and almost all of them turn up safe and sound. So take heart. I hope yours does too. I suppose you've asked everyone to check sheds etc, in case she's got shut in somewhere?

A ticket to a gig of an artist or band he likes. -
I may have said this before, but disqualifying Daily Mail obits might put the cat among the pigeons.

She would have looked pretty good if she'd gone a size or two up. Better to wear something that fits generously than squeeze into something way too small. Who's going to see the number on the label inside?

Fahk sake, anyone at all can get a personal thread in these parts nowadays. You couldn't just post that shit in the Political Frailty forum? That skill eluded you? SC Dude, this thread's been here longer than you have.

I do enjoy a bit of Kipling.

sounds like he needs a doctor. I'd be inclined to blame the green eggs.

He claimed that he needed the money for his treatment rather than the funeral. So even if the drugs didn't stop the progression of his motor neuron disease, they might still slow it down enough to win him a few months. This case is also interesting from a legal perspective. Trusting his lawyer enough to give him money to invest without a proper formal contract was a really dumb decision. I can't imagine why someone would trust their lawyer over family and friends. I doubt if funeral costs would be classified as "urgent". I can't speak for SA, but in my experience UK funeral directors don't expect their bills to be paid promptly. Quite often the funds come from the deceased's estate, which can mean waiting for probate.

Just popped round to see how she's doing. I tried to get in but the door kept Jammin' Ooooh! Well, I hope we won't have to wait in vain for further news.

Isn't there a Quiz Show thread somewhere? Would that do? There's the Quiz Show Hosts thread: https://forums.deathlist.net/topic/5561-quiz-show-hosts/?hl=quiz However De Mooi has been arrested for murder: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/sep/22/cj-de-mooi-eggheads-arrested-over-killing-in-netherlands Yes, I realise that. So he's not ill, dying or dead, just up for general discussion and gossip.

Yes, but, and this might open a can of worms, I'd say if someone makes the Drop 40, they are famous for more than just being ill. Famous solely for dying people just don't get picked in the huge numbers, yet Dr Kate made the top 15 of the Drop 40 twice. The only other example is Katherine Crow and she only made the 40 when she was "dying singer in the top ten of the UK charts", not the year before when she was "inspirational cancer case". Drop 40 cases need that extra pop culture osmosis than this forum or a glance over google for cancer mums. I think it suggests that there are more seasoned deadpoolers taking part. Including people who look at the top teams' surviving picks and add them to their own lists.

Ah yes, that's where the sainted Diana breathed her last. I do like those old Art Nouveau Metro entrances.
-
Agreed, and the main attraction of those sort of picks is their youth, garnering more points especially if played as joker.
-
She doesn't look good, but that's par for the course for an unposed stalky-paparazzo type photo. I wouldn't go so far as to say she looks ill though.

While we wait, I just discovered an interesting French site, Nécropédia, which among other things features anticipated obituaries. http://fr.necropedia.org/necrologie/Jacques_Chirac
