Next Unexpected "national Treasure" Death
Toast replied to Sean's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
More the first but they can be hated by a lot of people:As long as they have a cohort of fans and the media will make a big deal out of their death . I was thinking along the lines of Tony Blair. So probably not, then. -
Bowie all the way for me.

Hey Lewd I was thinking you could maybe increase the length of your goddamn signature you dumb ass. SC You can selectively blank out signatures, you know? Click on the little cross in the top RH corner of the offending sig.

Quite right too. This entire thread should be subtitled "Who Knows Where The Time Goes".

Funny that, his name popped into my mind as I was walking the dog just now. In a "who'll be next" kind of context.

Does the person have to be a genuine national treasure, or can they be widely loathed and despised? -
I didn't take part anyway

Why, is he ill? I think it's because he's rumoured to have cheated on Elton.

She hadn't been funny for years.

I think it is more significant that Lady Forsyth went by herself which mean he wanted someone to be at Ronnie funeral but he himself was not up to it. Until now I have thought he was going to go on and on but I did also say that when he gave up being on telly we should pay more attention to him. Are you sure she didn't just go herself. You'd assume if Corbbet and Brucie were such great friends, then Lady Forsyth would have known him well? What I was saying that by going alone was more significant for our purposes than if they have both stayed at home. I think everyone assumed she was 'representing' Bruce irrelevant of her own relationship with Ronnie and his widow, Being married to a celebrity doesn't disqualify her from being a person in her own right. I think that's rather disrespectful. She is a celebrity in her own right being the only Puero Rican to win Miss World. I am sure that there were many famous faces at the funeral who were not included in the BBC webpage but by picturing Lady Wilnelia alone they knew the significance. If there was no mention of Bruce who had frequently performed with Ronnie some people may have tried to read this as a snub. The presence of Mrs Forsyth was important. My Father's partner died recently after being in a care home for 4 years with dementia. Initially my father was undecided whether he would go to her funeral because of his own health but if he had not we his children would have gone to represent him even though we had never met her sister and nephew who were organising the funeral. No. You said You implied that she was there solely as Bruce's representative. I understand what you are saying Toast and I am not trying to diminish Lady Forsyth as a person. I will accept that I have not expressed myself completely clearly but Brucie was Ronnie's some time comedy partner, I think it would have been unlikely that Ronnie would have made the social acquaintance of a Puerto Rican former Miss World unless they were introduced through Bruce. I am sure they all became firm friends but the connection is Bruce and the BBC knew that when they put her picture in their story. Obviously the connection is Bruce, but how they met is irrelevant. Also when you go to a funeral it can have less to do with your relationship with the person who has died, and more that you are close to family members and wish to support them. I had to choose between two funerals recently as they were on the same day. I chose to go to the funeral of the person I knew less well, as I am closer to his family and felt that my presence would be more appreciated there than at the funeral of my cousin, whose children do not know me.

Was that the one in Hyde Park? He had to, er pull out of that one too, didn't he. It was such short notice they let people in free. So I got to see Elvis Costello and Ray Davis for nowt, which was a result.

Americans buy breadcrumbs! So do the English, but yes you can buy breadcrumbs in the shops. It's a convenience item. Much in the same way as GRATED cheese. This way you don't have to dry out a loaf of bread, and crumble it up before you can use it. FTFY. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD HELP ME, I just went on Netmums by mistake and saw this in a baby name thread 'I'm hovering around Claudia Odessa for a girl and Hugo Rupert for a boy' I'm off to kill myself. On Netmums? You sure? Those are Mumsnet names. True story, I once read a Mumsnet post on baby names that was so incredibly pretentious that I sent it in to Private Eye. They printed it in Pseud's Corner and sent me a cheque for a tenner. I thought pseuds corner was made up. Also what issue is this in? Alas, I can't remember. Sometime in 2014, I think, though IMBW. No, not made up. All the quotes are sourced, and the contributors credited at the foot of the column. -

Why don't you just put the fire out with an extinguisher, if we're to follow your analogy? Someone fetch the parrot. -

I think I have one, comes with an internal 14.4 modem, 5 1/4" floppy and Windows 3.1 I'm a true techno dunce so I'm only half sure that you are taking the piss out of me It just means I have a very old laptop that's weighs about the same as a breeze block and has the same thickness. I bought a Dell All-in-one that has 8gb memory, 1TB hard drive. CD/DVD writer, but mine cost me $600. Looking at the prices online, you can get a decent one for about the same price, although I would go to a shop other than John Lewis, one that has a higher turnover of stock and will charge a bit less. This should do it http://www.johnlewis.com/toshiba-satellite-c55d-laptop-amd-a8-8gb-ram-1tb-15-6-/p2521641?colour=WhiteYou get a 2 year guarantee with them and they don't ask too many questions if things pack in. As long as it doesn't look like it was run over by a truck. Yes, I was just going to link that one. Pretty similar to mine, have had no problems with it. As well as the 2 year guarantee, John Lewis has their price promise whereby if you can find a cheaper one on sale within a certain radius, they will refund you the difference.
