There actually is a golden cherry but the lyric is as I wrote. My wife is a Tom Jones fan and I've heard all his songs many times. http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/arugula-golden-cherries-marcona-almonds-and-parmigiano-reggiano-51107210 Those cherries in the photo on the link? There are orchards near where I live where these are grown. They call them white cherries. They're more cream and pink really.

Well that's spooky. I've got a nasty cold and have been living on chicken soup for the last two days. And I've been having chips with everything. I've had sausage rolls.
-
Are you sure you haven't confused it with Netmums? Mumsnet members wouldn't be seen dead on "Nethuns", as they call it.
-
I thought for a long time that it was "Her golden lips like cherries". I found it puzzling, having never seen a golden cherry.

That first Twitter link. Almost worth sending in to Pseud's Corner. Bet she's on Mumsnet.

http://www.pennyblackmusic.co.uk/MagSitePages/Article/6601/Blancmange-Interview Thanks, Cat. This bit amused me too:

Cat's second link makes it a bit clearer

He changes Marilyn French to Barbara Cartland. Sacrilege. It seems I've been misinterpreting that song all these years. Yes, I don't know why they changed that. I must look into it. Wiki also says "In a live version, (Neil) Arthur also sang "shame" instead of "aim", implying a complex sexual relation to come." It is an ambiguous song, isn't it? I've always preferred to take it as optimistic, but it has a very melancholy tone and some would say a sense of impending doom.

Blancmange ? I bought my copy on the Saturday. It was the day before I came. By Sunday, my 7 inch was covered in semen.

The same might be said of Kay Burley (not saying your bf likes her though).

Sounds a bit of a c*nt. Far from it. Well, not very far, but still ......

I was going to say, "So why start a thread now?" but as this has prompted some stellar comments, I'll let it go this time

There was a time on Just A Minute When Gyles Brandreth had the subject and was in full flow so Nicholas Parsons didn't ring the bell at the end of the minute and just let him go on to see how far he could go. I used to think he was a self opinionated idiot but I began to hear him on the radio more and I think he is actually someone who knows what he is talking about. However whilst I am at it I will throw in Chris Evans. He is clearly a very talented polymath within his own field. He's still irritating as hell. I think he knows and he milks it. "Appearing on daytime television in an array of bright jumpers will not necessarily adhere you to people but if you want them to really hate you become a Conservative MP" "Endear", shurely. What did he say on that Countdown clip, I couldn't quite make it out through the audience noise.

Following the above annoyance, I started again with a new team and ID. Three hits so far: Ford, Daniels and Haggard.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Douglas not mentioned anywhere in that obit. I'm not wrong, it's definitely her...look up The Peerage Page on her, the Sunday Express article where she comments on her son Dominick, etc etc. Don't get all defensive. First, if you've posted something that doesn't buttress the point being proferred, you've presented incompetent evidence. Sounds like it's the Peerage Page that you needed to link to then. The onus isn't on anyone else to go 'look up' anything. As for an article that talks about her discussing her son, again If it doesn't mention her FATHER it fails to make your point and the only reason she would be posted in this thread. I've no fucking idea who Douglas Fairbanks GRANDCHILDREN are. Now before you respond Y-Dub, re-read my first four words. SC So what if it doesn't mention her father's name? She's still dead. That's what YW reported, and he linked to the obit announcement, as is proper. He isn't obliged to supply a complete family tree. "Incompetent evidence", my -
I must admit I don't have a single Abba song in my collection either, although I love 'The Day Before You Came'. I thought I did have that, but having just checked, it turns out to be the Blancmange cover.

Story of my life! I think I'll use that as the title of my autobiography. I am pretty sure that confirms the shipping between you and lardy. -

Doreen Keogh for me, please. -
FTFY before Toastie saw it! Thank you, Time. I'm shocked. Shocked and disappointed. MPFC, you've let me down, you've let Mrs MPFC down, you've let the whole school down and above all you've let yourself down.

Sorry to hear that, Shaun.

Money and sex....that's why Hugh is 90 today and he'll keep up until 100, I bet my ass he will i know that you mean, and in part you are right but... also it's probably that at his age can have an heart attack "during the act" Studies have shown that people who have lots of sex and enjoy it have a low chance of heart attack....meaning: heart is a muscle and he's pumping it to perfection.....his heart is healthier than my whole body, that's why MJ died at 50 Forever blowing bubbles. God smote him down. Incidentally, did those studies inform you as to the chance of a heart attack for people who have a lot of sex and don't enjoy it? Are there any? Then why do they have sex if they don't enjoy it? I love cake and I eat cake and I enjoy it, I don't enjoy onions so I don't eat them. Probably quite a lot of sex workers. They enjoy the money that comes from sex. Same thing. They get laid and earn hundreds for a 5 minute job, or less..... You seem to be well informed on the subject.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

NO! Not sure what the point your making is, if you don't want to be part of it just don't enter. Can you tell me what soap Bill Teacher appeared in and as what character? your mom. I didn't realise you were a Brummie, MK. That's a bit off Toastie. You have now accused the good folk of Birmingham of being, well, illiterate. And as a literate Brummie, I wholeheartedly concur! No I didn't! My mom mum's family were Brummie and they say mom, not mum. And they were all Villa fans -

If Charlotte Rae ,90 year old horse jockeys and a bunch of other randos can have their own thread then the most commercially succesful pop band of the 20th Century meet the bar for one easily. To say nothing of the fact that the Beatles and the Rolling Stones have their own threads... Why would they warrant ones but not Abba? http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/abba-overtake-the-beatles-to-score-uk-s-second-biggest-selling-album__3041/ You tell me. As I've said before, people who are known to be ailing, lead reckless lifestyles, or who are often mentioned in the media are worth a thread. But I don't agree with people getting their own threads because they're "famous enough". It leads to: 1. Stagnant threads which are unposted in for months, even years on end. 2. Too much fragmentation. 3. And it clutters up the site.
