So why are you saying it's creepy? I'm saying how it would look to today's viewers. Middle aged married cop makes suggestive statement to possible witness/suspect during his line of work - could you get away with writing that sort of stuff today without it leading to some sort of disgrace/shame/witchunt/newspaper outrage, given the apparent age of the girl? I think not. He just told her she was pretty! He was being kind, that's all. What a horrible world this has become.

I can't see why we have to have separate threads for such people. There's no need for it.

Why can't this guy go in the Voice Actors thread?
-
There is a perfectly serviceable thread for Voice Actors. Can't this go there?
-
Really? I know quite a few people who have died in the last 10 years, and there are numerous other posters who have mentioned their own bereavements. Think your comment is the odd one.

Ah yes, the episode that includes this creepy little moment: https://youtu.be/pkAi2obw1Lo At the time, nothing; to today's viewers, yep, just a little creepy. It's a real shame that anyone would find that "creepy". There's nothing wrong with paying someone a compliment, whatever their age. And in this case it set up a line in which an intelligent character wittily turns a cliché upside down.

I Need A Tv Series To Start Watching
Toast replied to RIP Wee Jum's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Try and see the first series of 'Detectorists' if you can. A comic gem. -
I didn't expect Pratchett to go so soon. People can live a long time with Alzheimer's.

I could have sworn there was a Cinematographers thread, but perhaps it was another one that got merged with something else.

Today's day in court was cancelled because of the "bad state of health" of Mr. Groening: http://www.tagesspiegel.de/politik/prozesstag-im-auschwitz-verfahren-vorzeitig-beendet-oskar-groening-in-schlechtem-gesundheitszustand/11737296.html(link in german, but I bet english articles will appear, since the trial has received a fair bit of attention abroad.) Judges are considering their verdict: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3152324/Prosecutors-demand-3-year-prison-sentence-bookkeeper-Auschwitz-Oskar-Groening-trial-death-300-000-Jews-judges-consider-verdict.html Verdict has fallen: sentenced to 4 years in prison http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33533264 So, most major news agencies will report his death in jail automatically and he's old and frail. Low DDP points, granted, but HPDP and Deathrace gold, maybe. Isn`t he infamous enough for the Death List?I would have thought his demise will be covered as much as Priebke`s or Demjanjuk`s? He's infamous enough. Surely it depends on your level of fame or infamy. He's sure to get a UK obit which I believe is all that qualifies. I don't believe there are any obit rules for the Death List.

I'd never read TKAM until about 10 years ago; never did it at school. It was a disappointment given its massive popularity and the number of people who assert that it's their favourite book evah. I mean, it was OK, but ... My theory is that as a school set book, it compared favourably with other set texts. It's an easy read with young protagonists and a reasonably interesting plot. And as such, people remember it fondly because it was more accessible and less 'boring' than Shakespeare and the like. Many of these people will not have read a book since they left school. Not saying this applies to everybody, of course, but it may account for some of its enormous following. There's another one that people (mainly females) go on about, and that's 'I Capture The Castle'. Left me cold. Again, I may have enjoyed it more if I'd read it when I was a teenager.

Whom Are You Tarring With The Epithet "twunt"?
Toast replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
A pussy of twunts. -
Isn't "Hollywood Possibilities" supposed to be for discussing people who might die soon, not people who have actually died.

Provide link or it didn't happen. SC This could be the reason why, fucking vegetarians. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/668048.stm I found it ironic that he was a vegetarian from the Archdiocese of Bologna. Deliciously ironic. SC FFS. Read it again. Cardinal Giacomo Biffi, 71, said that the modern Antichrist, identified in the Book of Revelation as a seven-headed beast, was most likely now disguised as a philanthropist supporting creeds like vegetarianism, animal rights or pacifism, or advocating dialogue with Orthodox or Anglican believers.

Please, expand... I was in the crowd at the dockside waving the ship off We all got paid a couple of quid, and fed with free burgers and sausages which were very tasty. I remember that I wore a red woolly hat, but sadly my mum was never able to pick me out.

Good thinking Guest. I don't think any of us had considered either of these before..... False! I have already both in my Deathlist 2015

I was in a film with him once.

I'm dubious about the claim that she'll make a full recovery. I think she'll have a relapse early next year. It sounds wildly optimistic. If they had said something like "It is a slow process but she hopes to make a full recovery" I would probably be more reassured than the everything is wonderful which suggest she might die next week. This could be folk rock's Zsa Zsa unfolding in front of our eyes. What's conspicuous is the reliance on a long-term male friend and a lawyer, it's not like she's greatly surrounded by people who actually love her is it? There's also a fair amount of property and valuable copyrights at stake here. So, in the last case, she's nowt like Zsa Zsa, then. Is it definitely a male friend? I only read the BBC link, and they seem to have avoided the issue, which suggested to me that the writer wasn't sure. Leslie is usually the male spelling here in the UK, but it can be female in the USA. I think I took the same reading of this I had thought that it was a female friend but then clocked the spelling when I reread it after MPFC''s post. Yes, it's just that I know a woman called Leslie (sic) who is from New York.

Just further proof that women can multi-task.

Toupee or not Toupee....that is the question

I'm suspecting Botox too, they're well old for pop stars now, right? They've collaborated with Franz Ferdinand to form FFS. Bloody brilliant at Glastonbury. Every post Paul Bearer posts in this thread shall be chalked up to irony. SC Hmm, dunno, saw FFS on Later with Jools Holland and that collision of two intelligent but passionate bands works well, IMHO anyway. Haven't bothered buying or ripping the album, mind. Yes, I watched the Glastonbury set and enjoyed it. That's when I clocked the hairdo. I may have "Number One Song In Heaven" at my funeral. One of my all-time favourites If you should die whilst crossing the street? I'd rather die before I awake, if I'm honest. I had this song on vinyl when I was a student on the B side was an extended version which was even more awesome. Me too! I had the 12 inch version. Wish I hadn't got rid of all my vinyl for a house move -
Is he twerking?
