I too had a special affection for Claude, seeing as the British media had a habit of ignoring his existence just because he lived in Australia. Well done Claude, and RIP.

I don't think they bother with live coverage of state funerals anymore, for ex-PMs at least, they didn't for Ted Heath or James Callaghan I don't think they even have State funerals for ex-prime ministers. Not normally anyway. The last one was for Sir Winston Churchill, I think.

If it had been a State occasion the US President would have been invited. But it wasn't. If he had some special personal link with the bride or groom Mr Obama might have been invited. But apparently he doesn't. So he wasn't invited.

Princess Mary has recently had twins and is on maternity leave, as it were. In the case of the foreign royals, I think they send the invitation to the monarch, who decides who will attend on behalf of the family. In this case Queen Margrethe obviously chose to go herself.

I would hazard a small bet on another individual possibly turning out to be a troublemaker. She wasn't invited. Anyway I enjoyed it
