I still don't know who Steve Hewlett is or was. I've known who George Alagiah is since he first appeared on TV as a news reporter many years ago.
-
Yes, well done Jiroemon Hope to see you back soon.

This was so fabulous.

Yeah, that always has me . The only other occupation that seems to demand this specification of gender is nurse. I mean surely it's obvious that a he is a male nurse/model. Ah but these days, who knows.

DL Status Updates: Statements, Obsevations & Verbal Tennis
Toast replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Blimey, if you're this pissed off when you won the case, just imagine if you'd lost. -
Nobody 'in the know', but the quote comes from The Sun. "Meanwhile her heartbroken relatives have been keeping a vigil beside her hospital bed hoping for a speedy recovery." https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5332555/home-and-away-actress-jessica-falkholt-still-clinging-to-life-a-day-after-life-support-machine-turned-off/

The 'casual type' of contestant are people who probably only think about deadpooling once or twice a year.
-
I think anybody who's not just doing it as a hobby needs to have a word with themselves.

It's the same rules as the DDP, so he may qualify. Death Row inmates score if they die of any causes other than execution.
-
Not sure, but they seem to have singled her out because her condition is terminal. But that's not the reason for her fame. She wouldn't be newsworthy if she hadn't achieved anything.

I still don't understand their problem with Marieke Vervoort. They exclude (and I quote) * People who are only noteworthy for their cause of (impending) death. Read: no cancer-bloggers, no local weathermen with brain tumors, no Paralympians with degenerative muscle diseases, etc But MV is not "only noteworthy for (her) cause of (impending) death". Or do they not consider gold medal winning Paralympians "noteworthy"? Surely they are no less worthy than their Olympian equivalents? If she hadn't won anything, I'd understand why she's not accepted. But she has.

Good to have you here, Sean. We already have a regular poster named Sean, so perhaps we should call you Dead Ends. Unless you prefer Bastard?
-
Exactly. We are just demonstrating that there is a perfectly legitimate explanation for his gingerness.

Not suggesting for a moment that the host does any monitoring. I just think it's something that people need to keep in mind. UK players would tend to be more in tune with the DL mindset, although it goes without saying that it's subjective up to a point.

You mean "the current style of voting"? If we don't keep to Deathlisty picks, the CSDL will just morph into a DDP style list.

Harry and his cousin George McCorquodale (son of Diana's sister).
-
Of those latter four, I would only have considered Percy Sledge. The others not Deathlisty enough for me.
-
I really can't be arsed, sorry.

For what? My interest in expanding my general knowledge, or my taste in names?

I've looked this up, and she was apparently brought up as a Protestant, although she went to a Catholic school. Her mother is Protestant and her father Episcopalian. In any case, heirs to the throne are no longer barred from marrying Catholics. The 2013 Act that changed the rules of succession also removed that bar. You are right though that the Sovereign may not be a Catholic. That's because s/he is also head of the Church of England. I also discovered that her first given name is Rachel, which I think is a much nicer name than the ugly, clunky (and misspelt) Meghan.

There's no Greek blood in Phil's family. His grandfather was Danish and was invited by the Greeks to be their King. His grandmother was Russian. His mother was German, but descended from one of Queen Victoria's daughters and born at Windsor Castle. It's always been amusing to refer to him as 'Phil The Greek' though.
