Summer in Transylvania 2,172 Posted September 28, 2022 English Actor Brian Murphy, star of 1970s/1980s sitcoms Man About the House as well as its spinoff George and Mildred turned 90 a few days ago. He is famous enough, evident from previous statements that he should have a place on the list as and when it is deemed necessary, and he is certainly more famous than some names that have turned up on the list over the years. He is also one of the oldest remaining regular cast members from Last of the Summer Wine, having portrayed Alvin Smedley from 2003 until the show's end in 2010. Absolutely meets the fame criteria and getting on in years by now. I sure hope not, but could he be a potential candidate for 2023? Intriguing Fact: When serving at RAF Northwood he met and formed a friendship with future The Good Life and Monarch of the Glen actor the late great Richard Briers, one and a half years his junior.

The Watcher 314 Posted October 4, 2022 Murphy has outlived his co-star Yootha Joyce from George & Mildred by 42 years. Apparently the day she died, Murphy received in the post a contract for another series of G & M. He is married to Linda Regan who played Yellowcoat April in Hi-de-Hi & is the sister of Carol Drinkwater who was the first Helen in All Creatures Great & Small. Well it is said that everyone is only Six Degrees of Separation (at most) from everyone else.

Well it is said that everyone is only Six Degrees of Separation (at most) from everyone else. Lynda Bellingham was the second Helen in All Creatures. Carol Drinkwater and Christopher Timothy (last seen on TV looking rough after a tough battle with cancer, btw) had a lot of chemistry together as an onscreen couple. So much chemistry, in fact, that Timothy's first marriage broke up, and Drinkwater was re-cast when the show returned!
