I really hope we won't copy DL 2024… Anyway, obit to come, he was my joker if I remember well, quite impressed by how fast it's going.
Lafaucheuse 4,311 Posted January 9 among those I see dying the most this year are : Edgar Morin : turning 104 this year, hospitalized last year, frailer everyday, won't see 2026 imo. Bernadette Chirac : how she managed to make it to 2025 is a mystery. If she makes it to 2026 I give up. André Chandernargor : too old now. François Cheng : I Think we're due another academician death this year. Cheng is the frailest of them all and hasn't appeared in public in ages. I do think he's near the end. Marthe Villalonga : severe alzheimer, 27/4 care and 92 this year, strong contender. Charles Bietry : ALS sufferer, planned assisted suicide in Switzerland but when ? Catherine Laborde : diagnosed with Lewy body Dementia in 2014. Life Expectancy : 5-7 years. Has now exceeded that estimation and has gone suspiciously quiet for a year or two. Brigitte Fontaine : looked frail in her last appearances last year even though she recorded a new album. A life of drug, alcohol and smoking abuse can't be good at that age Charles Coste : wheelchair bound in the Olympic Games last year. Now the oldest olympic athlete alive, I don't think he'll see 2026 Gabriel Matzneff : suspected terminal cancer for a while, will turn 88 this year and reclusive, I'd say he's a goner this year André Darrigade : just strikes me as the surprise hit for whatever reason Jean Pierre Léaud : was said to be in ill-health two years go and completely disappeared since. He was really frail in his last appearances too Mona Ozouf : real frail in her last appearances last year, no news since then, quite suspicious Nadine Trintignant : couldn't walk by herself and overall real frail at Anouk Aimée's funeral last year. Outlived her husband and quiet since that, I don't think she has much time left Jean Paul Guerlain : see Trintignant. Circling the drain. Emilie Dequenne : agressive brain tumor relapse and medicine don't work anymore apparently. 50/50 for this one On top of that, you add one or two "surprised" death like Helène Langevin Joliot, Richard Borhinger or Edith Creson and I think we can reach the high tens or even the twenties, let's be optimistic ! edit : actually, I doubt Charles Coste will go anywhere this year, just found this interview of him from august, he looks really sharp and I never saw a 100 yo man speaking so clearly. He looks 10 years younger and apparently he can still walk. Might have another year or two in him fortunately !
Fantomasss 232 Posted January 9 It's a good French selection, I'm sure that we can make better than our list 2024! Now "Gabriel de Broglie n'est plus immortel"

Last interview He seems in good health, but the fact to be interviewed at his home makes me think to the last interviews of Badinter, he could die this year
