Betty Friedan (b. 1921) is a formidable 2006 candidate for the DeathList. The influential feminist and intellectual is apparently not quite well at 84. She recently was interviewed for a documentary regarding the history of the feminist movement and appeared quite frail, with a slightly slurred speech.

Well, it's official....Betty Friedan has died.

The authoress of The Feminine Mystique arose and awoke today to celebrate her 85th birthday but alas, by setting sun she had died.

What a truly moving tribute to this woman that we have mourned her death on these forums in three different locations at three different times.
