Buster Bloodvessel

Surely Bad Manners front man Buster Bloodvessel has to be reaching his pulmonary potential by now. An outside chance for next year's list perhaps?

:D I think youve hit the nail on the head there Mr Horsemen

Celebrity Tourettes is clearly a serious condition and not to be laughed at.

CLIVE DUNN!

Well touretted Grimmy, but Clive Dunn aside, has anyone got any genuine news on Mr Bloodvessel?

I still think he's gonna pop his cork sooner rather than later.

According to the Bad Manners site, Buster recently underwent an operation. To quote

'25 May 2004 - Last Saturday, Buster finally had an operation to combat his obesity. Having been on the waiting list since September 2002, the operation came in at the last minute.

The surgeons removed half of Buster's intestine, which will obviously speed things up internally. The doctor's advised that Buster could be down to 12 stone within 18 months.

Consequently we have had to cancel the first part of the tour, dates for Middlesbrough and Luton are already in and we will be back in Bradford fairly soon.

Buster feels fit and well and is looking forward to seeing everybody, when he starts back to work on 4th June.'

The site lists tour dates all the way through to December (albeit a large number to be confirmed), so looks like Buster may be with us a while yet.

Sheesh.

Never thought I'd see the day when Buster Bloodvessel could be described as gutless.

If he'd have done a bit more research on DeathList though (World's Strongest Man thread), rather than waiting for the op, he could have had the guts crushed out of him two years ago.

Does eny1 know Buster Bloodvessel's d.o.b? He's the lead singer with the band Bad Manners for those of you that don't know! :D

6/9/1958, Hackney, London. He collapsed and almost carked it during a gig 3 years ago, but I haven't heard anything since.

He was on "Buzzcocks" a few weeks ago (don't think it was a repeat). Seems to have slimmed down quite a bit, though he's still a big lad! Looked very jolly. I believe he now runs his own pub. He was also on one of the kids' progs quite recently where he did his party trick of swallowing a whole jar of jellied eels or suchlike - don't know what that must be doing to his health!

Found this on myhackney.co.uk:

Buster to front meningitis campaign - 03/01/03

Buster Bloodvessel has spoken for the first time about his near death experience after he contracted meningitis.

He has now agreed to front a publicity campaign for The Meningitis Trust.

"I felt I was floating. I could see everybody I knew around me but couldn't place who they were. It was terrifying." He told the Sun newspaper.

The Bad Manners singer's heart stopped for 17 seconds while he was on a life support machine.

Also a good pic here (think he's been dieting since then!):

Buster in 2001

I sincerely hope he's over all these problems as he's a top guy and a total one-off!

If you rearrange:

'the lead singer of Bad Manners, Buster Blodvessel' you get

'slender? in truth gross, believe me! Bald as a nob's end.'

Guest Good King Jon

I interviewed him yesterday for the Evening Times (Glasgow), and can reveal that not only is he alive and well, but has gone from a truly bloodvessel busting 31 stone down to 13.5 - the weight he was at age 14. After a health wake-up call involving a hernia that could only be treated by a professor specialising in obsesity, he underwent an operation removing 2/3 of his stomach through a one inch incision. Read tommorrow's Evening Times for more details!

I do hope that the Evening Times' proof readers are awake if this is the standard of spelling from the journalists <_<

Now, now children. Stop being petty, and thank the nice drive-by gentleman for keeping us informed of a potential candidate's health.

I have a hunch that he was turning up to plug some article he'd written for a 2-bob local rag, rather than to keep us informed on a potential candidate. Call me cynical if you like.........

The Glasgow Evening Times is (are?) a highly respectable organ. In particular the food critic is highly adept at telling a good curry house from a bad one.

But yes your man did drive by to plug his article, but he was also being helpful so let's all say a big thankyou. And if Buster dies next year and isn't on the list then we know who is getting an email bomb.

Perhaps Teddy can take a peek at the article in question, if buying a Glasgow paper isn't beneath his dignity. We could all chip in towards the price.

The Evening Times is one of Glasgow/West Central Scotlands major evening newspapers, (in fact, I think it's the only one,) I suppose it could be compared with Manchester Evening News or any other major evening newspapers.

Indeedy. We get so many crap drive-by postings that we should be thankful for an informative one from Good King Jon there. Bummer about Buster's weight loss though - that's another potential team member crossed off my 2005 list. <_<

Sorry Notapotato, but you are right - it is beneath my dignity. I'll stick to the Edinburgh Evening News, where the journalists at least know how to spell <_<

Having said that, the Glasgow Evening Times is probably the most respected paper to come from the West Coast - but when you consider that the competition consists of the Scottish Sun and the Daily Record, it is not a major achievement. :D

I showed him this site, he found it very amusing and wanted to appologise to anyone who may be dissapointed that he is still with us, and he intends to be for many years to come. still keep watching the obits.
