BrunoBrimley 86 Posted April 15, 2005 Gwydion Brooke I feel like such a bassoon for not having known about it sooner. Perhaps I have decided to reed too much into this. If you think so then give me a Huller so I won't be feeling too great a Schoeneck. Suppose I should leave now so you'll not Heckel me any more.Music to the ears I am sure you're all wishing I wood-wind this down.

BrunoBrimley 86 Posted April 16, 2005 [quote name=Notapotato' date='Apr 15 2005, 07:39 PMYou a bassoon player Bruno? I knew there was something crooked about you [/quote] I started out on the clarinet at about 11 years old but found it seemed too Benny Goodman-like and he was not my hero. Some verbal coaxing on my part earned me the opportunity to learn the stately(and sexy) bassoon which I kept at for several years. At 19 my grandfather helped purchase my first (I've only had 2) bassoon, a Schreiber (the company began in the year of my ordination, er, I mean birth. I was part of a few musical groups, as well as years of insanity where I would often play in subways (New York City) for spare dollars. Not once did I give thought to the idea that my instrument might be stolen--mercifully it was not. A few years ago I had an injury which left me with no control of my right hand, which in turn led me to hanging up the bassoon. And yes, I really did hang it up. It's in a custom built display case in my home.
