Monoclinic 39 Posted November 20, 2008 It's World philosophy day today. Not a lot of people know that, except of course those wise (wo)men at the BBC. What the first scenario failed to outline is whether those five people kidnapped/tied to the railtracks were big brother contestants (say). The decision then becomes just that little bit easier, kill Bill, Ben, Tom, Dick and Harry.

What the first scenario failed to outline is whether those five people kidnapped/tied to the railtracks were big brother contestants (say). The decision then becomes just that little bit easier, kill Bill, Ben, Tom, Dick and Harry. I gave Claude Levi-Strauss a bell and he assured me the answers are: 1. Only if you are wearing sunglasses. 2. Reply hazy, try again. 3. Bulgaria. 4. Nurse! It's that crank caller again.
Boudicca 702 Posted November 21, 2008 From the BBC page: But are you really an entire human being? If surgeons swapped George Bush's brain for yours, surely the Bush look-alike, recovering from the operation in the White House, would be you. Hence it is tempting to say that you are a human brain, not a human being. Are they trying to say that there might be something wrong with having the brain of Mr Bush or is he being used as an acceptable substitute for the more descriptive but highly offensive "moron / imbecile"? It's good to know that GWB is proving to be of some use, to someone, somewhere. And there was me thinking that he was finally knuckling down to learning joined-up handwriting and finishing, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". There are some very tricky words in that you know.
