Marlon Brando

Recommended Posts

Yikes! The media coverage of the Godfather's finest (or at least most realistic) performance is ridiculous, and it's only 3:05 PM here in lala land:

"All of Hollywood mourns..." Yeah, right! MOST of "Hollywood" hated his ass!

"The nation grieves..." I think I'm going to be sick, and I'm an admirer of Brando's work.

Oh well, the Ronnie Raygun frenzy has tapered off and I suppose they needed a new snot rag story.

I'm new here but I'm picking up that everyone tries to be first to break the news when someone "cark's it"? I think that is the hilarious term I saw used. Anyway, I was trying to be first too so I guess I'll fit in.

What they're saying...

"Marlon would hate the idea of people chiming in to give their comments about his death. All I'll say is that it makes me sad he's gone."

Francis Ford Coppola, director of "The Godfather"

"America has lost its leading film star. He was the best. As far as I'm concerned, he was also a very good friend. The world will miss him."

James Garner, friend/actor

"I will miss him beyond belief."

Elizabeth Taylor

"I feel a certain sadness at the loss of one of America's greatest actors. It is said no price too high does an original bear, and Marlon Brando was a quintessential original."

Robert Evans, head of Paramount Pictures during production of "The Godfather"

"I always found him very quiet. He was not someone I ever got close to. Mean, moody and magnificent - that comes to mind."

Max Clifford, publicist who worked for Brando in the 1980s

"With the passing of Marlon Brando, America has lost a great actor of the stage and screen. His award-winning performances in films such as 'On the Waterfront' and 'The Godfather' demonstrated his outstanding talent and entertained millions across the country. Marlon Brando was one of the 20th-century's finest actors and will be missed."

President Bush

"Damnit - I've just heard Marlon's finally gone! I'll gonna have admit that thats the worse miss of the year for DL 2004"

Grim Reaper, Deathlist 2004

He was hated by the powers in Hollywood because he wouldn't play the game according to their "rules". For the same reason, I admired him, but he hasn't really done anything lately to piss people off. Old age, I suppose. Does anyone recall his refusal to accept the best actor Oscar on political principal?

As an aside, the last time I saw him, he weighed about 350 lbs, how many stone would that be?

Hey, DWB, what's with the ;) ? HE never said he was broke. It was all media speculation. Brando rarely said much of anything in the last few years, so the tabloids just made s*#t up.

Hey, I didn't know about Marlon Brando dead by July 2, 2004. I alway thought it was death by 2 or 3 years ago but no, it was one-half year ago... that's so sad... God blessed Marlon... I love movie of 'The Godfather' part I, it was so good movie, but not all of part. (laughing) God take him! (growl!) Amen.
