Monoclinic 39 Posted October 19, 2007 BBC reporting Alan Coren dead - no link yet. Link That's a shame. Moreover it's a pity it wasn't the other one, Toksvig. That would however be wishful thinking.

It is a real shame, I had no idea he was suffering from cancer. Very much enjoyed watching him on "Call My Bluff" was really annoyed when I had to stop doing shift work and working during the day so I ended up missing it. Tuber Mirum 126 Posted October 19, 2007 BBC reporting Alan Coren dead - no link yet. Link A sad one indeed. I was an avid reader of Punch in the 70's and 80's. Those were the grand old days before Harry Enfield. When comedy was still funny. Now we have no more Coren, no more Rushton, no more Cook and no more Hoffnung. All that is left is Clement Freud. Or is he dead too? -Just off to re-read The Sanity Inspector.

Octopus of Odstock 2,215 Posted October 19, 2007 What a terrible loss - to lose Sheridan Morley, George Melly, Ned Sherrin & now Alan Coren (my favourite of the lot) within about 7 or 8 months is a grevious blow - all were excellent storytellers & comics. (Morley less so, perhaps) An incredibly intelligent, erudite & funny man, I shall miss his wit on both radio & TV. TMIB, maybe you could comfort young Victoria? But his daughter isn't exactly what I would call a bad looking woman. 6\10 I'm a professional poker player myself and I've never heard of Victoria until now. Sorry ATJ ... what were you saying?
