Haze on the paddling pool. Hm.

Haze on the paddling pool. Hm. To be fair I saw the late-period Purple a couple of tours back and they were a good show, though they avoid one or two favourites, especially Child in Time because Gillan can't get close to those high notes anymore
gcreptile 11,074 Posted April 15, 2018 Joe Lynn Turner apparently had a heart attack in Belarus: http://loudwire.com/joe-lynn-turner-hospitalized-belarus-heart-issue/ Edit: I've also just realized that his stint in Deep Purple really wasn't the most remarkable... Sir Creep 7,071 Posted April 15, 2018 Why is there a thread for this band, it opens a can of worms. I'm guessing that was hashed out in 2006 when football_fan started the damned thing. But I'm not giving the thread credence enough to read it and find out. SC

SC Forum cheatsheet notes: when a thread starts with someone quoting someone else, it's a post from another thread which has been merged into a new thread. (That's how I started the Sid Waddell thread - it was a post in Ideas for 2012 ). iirc (and Maryport or DDT can surely correct me if I'm wrong), this was the Jon Lord thread, and someone has turned it into a general thread for the great band Deep Purple. You might recall (but I'll remind you anyhow) that acclaimed musician/songwriter/Purple founder Lord was in and out of hospital in late 2011 with "treatable cancer", only he revealed in early 2012 that it was pancreatic and then died that summer. Had he announced the pancreatic nature of the beast pre-Hogmanay, Deathlist and Drop 40 cert. Hell, his death got on the BBC News. Truly a black night.

Jon Lord being the orgininal subject. So, we could - like - merge the acquired wisdom here with the general rock thread that trawls the surviving Zeps, Heeps (for whom Lee Kerslake has been a semi-regular feature - he turns 71 on Tuesday), Sabs, AC/DC's and the like.
