The euthanasia second reading passed with a majority of 55 despite projections from the forum Nostradamus.

Pretty much everyone expected it be closer through the Bill’s supporters always seemed more confident (And had better organisation because the opposition to it arguably a broader mix of the political spectrum which means more disconnected)

I’m glad I’m not an MP because I would probably abstain as I think the Bill is quite flawed but I can’t say I wouldn’t consider an assisted death.

Good to see it passed, surprised in a way as it looked like it might not given (unhelpful) interventions like that from Streeting.

Euthanasia has been going on here for years.  When people are close to death they are often helped on their way by an overgenerous dose of morphine.  It's just not mentioned.

Doesn’t seem likely Scotland will introduce its own form as the SNP as a party is very split as well

I'm satisfied but also surprised as I would have bet good money that this bill would be defeated. I could never understand why we put animals with terminal illnesses and injuries down so they don't suffer but we won't do the same with human beings in an even worse state who are capable of giving consent in a way an animal couldn't.

I still think it's a weird constitutional anomaly that the Scottish MPs can vote on a bill which doesn't affect their country at all, especially on such an emotive one. And they can't vote on a piece of legislation which only affects their country.

Yes, they could vote on Scottish matters provided they jumped over 7 double deckers on a motorbike first.
