Whitehouse 874 Posted August 13, 2015 The very first topic I started.... Today one of the most dreadful sequels in Hollywood history (that's a personal opinion, they should never have touched the original...) was playing on the tube again. It does have one thing it's favour over the original and that is an enormous role call. Every whose who in blues is in it. Since its release in 1998 a lot of musicians have shed off their mortal coil and shook hands with the devil at their crossroads. Quite an impressive list. Blues Brothers Band. Donald "Duck" Dunn. 1941 -2012 Alan Rubin. 1943 -2011 Guests. Junior Wells. 1934 - 1998 (movie was released after his death.) Wilson Pickett. 1941-2006 Esther Ridgeway. 1959- 2003 Gracie Ridgeway. 1957 - 2006 James Brown. 1933 - 2006 Louisiana Gator Boys B.B. King. 1925 - 2015 Clarence Clemons. 1942 - 2011 Bo Diddley. 1928 - 2008 Isaac Hayes. 1942 - 2008 Billy Preston. 1946 - 2006 Lou Rawls. 1933 - 2006 Koko Taylor. 1928 - 2009 Grover Washington Jr. 1943 - 1999 Motel Band Bobby Sheehan. 1968 - 1999 Non-musical contributors. Kathleen Freeman. 1919 - 2001 Jeff Morris. 1934 - 2004 Wally High. 1938 - 2008 George Sperdakos. 1931 - 2000 Candide Franklin. 1967 - 2013 Edit: Jeff Morris was mentioned twice. Mended. Man, that's true carnage!! But lots of people left.
Davey Jones' Locker 1,325 Posted August 13, 2015 Good idea for a topic. Out of interest, how many people from the original Blues Brothers have died (besides Belushi)? Carrie Fisher is obviously always lurking in the background on DL, since she has had a veritable shoppingl list of mental health and drug addiction issues. It is amazing Disney have taken the risk of including her in Star Wars7. I am betting her role there will be fairly small.
charon 4,943 Posted August 13, 2015 Goodman and Aretha won't see 2017..

John Candy and Ray Charles likewise. Others who died are: Illinois Nazi Henry Gibson Good ol' Boy Charles Napier all around hero John Lee Hooker Pinetop Perkins Walter Horton
Spade_Cooley 9,630 Posted August 14, 2015 "Cab Calloway died after Kurt Cobain" is one of my favourite bits of music trivia.
