The Law of Averages.

Recommended Posts

Interesting pattern to the  position of successes in the list. No success in the first 5 or so. Then every other listing is a success then an 11 person lack of success & then a success every fifth listing. The Law of averages & another equally random Law of Uniformity suggests the next success will be in the middle of that larger gap so look out Leslie Phillips you could be next. Or maybe not.

The law of averages is a load of bollocks.

There are 1.9723846 bollocks in the mean load, the range is 0 to 2 and the median and mode are both 2.

At what fucking point will you fine Mods establish that no newbie is allowed to start threads for at least 180 days?  What exactly will it take?

9 years is hardly a newbie!

But I agree.

To try and give this thread some legs for those that do (mistakenly) believe in the Law of Averages and things being 'due'

There has not been a hit in the number 4 position on Death List since 2007 (Charles Lane).

There has not been a hit at the number 32 position on DL since 2002 (Lionel Hampton).

And the place with the longest since a successful hit is number 42 which was Stanley Kramer on 20th February 2001.

EDIT: I should add that the people currently charged with preserving these statistics until midnight on 31st December are Olivia de Havilland,  Valery Giscard D'Estaing and Jimmy Greaves.

Every statistical coincidence I ever noticed in the DL has died a death as soon as its pointed out. (Due to, you know, coincidence...)

So with that said, note that statistically, there's never been a dozen hits between 13th November and 25th December.
