According to this story, professional voice of reason Pat Robertson is calling for the Venezuelan President Hugo Sanchez to be assassinated.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9047102/

Judging by how the vote went in the last election there's a lot of Robertson's supporters in the red states that Bush won, so maybe W will bow to the demands of his constituents. Although given the CIA couldn't plant, I mean find, any WMD in Iraq I very much doubt their ability to carry out something as simple as offing a Latin American president.

Or, maybe we should just nominate Robertson for '06.

Isn't inciting crime illegal in the states?

Or, maybe we should just nominate Robertson for '06.

Sounds like a nice job for the Venuzuelan secret service.

The same story can now be found on the BBC.

However, one thing does puzzle me about this man and that is which part of "Thou shalt not kill" does he not understand?

Robertson apologizes for his Assassination  remarks.
Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson apologized Wednesday for calling for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, only hours after he denied saying Chavez should be killed.

Ah, chalk up lying as well.

Gimme that ol-time religion. B)

Hein

Yeah, when he said "take him out" he obviously meant that Dubya should take him out for a nice slap up meal! :angel4:

Hugo says to Bush if anything happens to me you're to blame.Violence also broke out between pro and anti Chavez camps

Hugo Chavez has threatened to stop selling oil to the Americans and by doing this, he has made himself a prime target to be "taken out".

I heard Rumsfeld on C-Span a few weeks back saying that Chavez was fermenting rebellion in Chile. Which means a US backed Chilean army must be about to invade Venezuela. Which means Chavez is a reasonable Maradona/ Karzai style bet for DL 2006.

I've been thinking, if Hugo Chavez is still president of Venezuela at the end of the year, he could well meet an untimely death in 2007. The Americans are sick of him.

Lots of dirt being dug on him: http://www.vivavenezuela.nl/content_nl/main.asp?recid=20

By whom, I wonder?

I should have known.

With all that oil at stake? Of course they would, and they will, but it will be one of the locals with an offshore bank account that does the deed.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm no defender of the CIA (if they couldn't at least plant some WMD in Iraq for a US platoon, or wait, better yet an up and coming Iraqi battalion, to "discover" in the desert outside Basra I don't know what they're there for). But can we think of any world leader who was actually even probably killed by the CIA? Here's an example of a great internet rumour, almost completely unfounded, making the case that the CIA really killed British police woman Yvonne Fletcher, not the Libyans.

http://www.mathaba.net/info/27a.htm

What the author failed to work into the story is that Steven Spielberg, a Mossad operative, was working under a sub-contract to the CIA when he made Back to the Future, in which the baddies were...you guessed it - the Libyans. This did even more to turn Britain against Libya, it had nothing to do with the fact Reagan's buddy Thatcher was British PM in 1984, and would have let US jets launch from the roof of Buckingham Palace if Ronnie had asked. I also read about 2/3 of some book written by a French (yawn) guy that it was really the CIA who were behind 9/11 so the US would have an argument to attack whomever they liked in the Mideast.

Anyway, a stronger case would probably need be made for Chavez to make the list, but he's a good fun suggestion.

Difficult to say, but it seems to me the person of people who dug up those links have a political agenda of their own. Apparently that website is of a Venezuelan cultural organisation in Tilburg, The Netherlands. The bits I can read don't claim political affiliation.

I like this:

A self-proclaimed leftist revolutionary seeking re-election in December, Chavez has used oil revenues to finance social programs and forced international companies to pay more taxes.

As if that's a bad thing.

Hein

What can you say about HUGO CHAVEZ ?

He recently bought 100.000 AK-103 from Russia and plans to set up a Kalashnikov assault rifle plant in Venezuela, causing trouble to countries like Brazil ( Brazilian drug dealers will have faster access to these weapons and will start killing more Brazilians).

PLEASE CIA KILL CHAVEZ FOR GOD`S SAKE!!!

What can you say about HUGO CHAVEZ ?

He is the democratically elected president of his nation.

You don't have to like that. You don't have to like him. At least he got his job with a bit more legitimacy than his colleague in the US.
