Confirming what we already knew about “Levelling Up”:

Given the results of the last election, this could be a bit misleading. After all, a whole lotta Red Tory seats went Blue Tory last time out.

Nevertheless, Sunak's on record about taking money out of deprived urban areas and moving it to the traditional Tory voting areas.

Not sure what to do with this information, mind.

  2. Ray Lewis, former Deputy Mayor of London under Boris Johnson who Boris rewarded with a CBE in his resignation honours, reportedly dead: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/boris-johnson-academy-bbc-city-hall-newham-b1149034.html

Not only were there allegations of inappropriate behaviour against him (he resigned), old Boris squashed any inquiry into those allegations - the things Wiki doesn't tell you.

Dear god, that and Boris' lusting after that American woman and misusing public funds allegedly to fund her, it's a wonder he hasn't been strung up by his bollocks by the hoi polloi.

One of the topics that I am the most interested in is the counterculture of the 1960's and early 1970's. There is just something about that era that always seem so fascinating to me, and makes me wonder what influential figures are still around from that era. So behold, I have made a list of people who have put in major influence from the counterculture in one way or another. I also do wonder which of these will be the last survivor of this group of very influential individuals. Anyways, here are the names:

Richard Alpert; professor, spiritual teacher; (1931 - 2019)

    Bill Ayers; activist, professor; (1944 - )

    Joan Baez; musician, activist; (1941 - )

    Peter Coyote; Digger, actor; (1941 - )

    David Crosby; musician; (1941 - )

    Daniel Ellsberg; whistleblower; (1931- )

    Bob Fass; radio host; (1933 - )

    Jane Fonda; actress, activist; (1937 - )

    Peter Fonda; actor, activist; (1940 - 2019)

So, many thousands of people sleeping on the streets because they've got no money, how do we deal with this? Fine them, of course.

Haven't they admitted their jails are full and are having to release folk early to get more people in?

What's the point of jailing these folk? So they can let out a more serious offender?

    Desperate.

Fucking, fucking annoying if true. He's not on my A Chris Goodbye team.

It certainly appears true, on Midge's official FB and Twitter feeds.

Looks like Squid's Stiffs had some inside info on him to pick him. (Not eligible for my TOTP team anyway).

Several Pearl Harbor survivors have died since my last update.

    Bob Batterson died August 11th.

    Joseph Eskenazi died September 9th.

    Joseph Richard died September 27th.

With this in mind, these are the remaining survivors I know of.

Louis Conter (102) - USS Arizona survivor.

    Ike Schab (103)

    Herbert Elfring (100)

    Horace Hamilton (99)

    Sterling Cale (101)

    Possibly alive?

Freeman Johnson (103) - No confirmation since 2021.

Right now 5 Pearl Harbor survivors I can confirm alive but let's wait for the Pearl Harbor anniversary to be sure, since that's when living survivors come up in the news.

    Lou Conter reportedly dead: https://www.cbsnews.com/sacramento/news/lou-conter-last-living-uss-arizona-survivor-after-pearl-harbor-attack-dies-at-102/

    Edit: DDP pick.

Good news for Labour then, more money can be raised post-election. Not sure how Hunt's sums are going to add up in this case.

I say given the increase in Council Tax that England and Wales will experience, the increase in mortgage rates payable, the higher prices at the shops, etc etc experienced by the ordinary folk is causing real hurt. The increase in the minimum wage with nothing for business could mean businesses going down. No point in having a minimum wage if you aren't working because your boss has closed down.

Meantime, instead of bringing the non-dom changes in immediately, the super rich like Sunak do need time to get their affairs in order to screw the Treasury out of more money. I don't see the Councils giving Joe and Josephine Bloggs 4 fucking years notice of the increase to your Council tax. (Says he from the position where the Council Tax in Scotland has been frozen this year - sorry guys!).

So this is the UK's big lie. The Tories want you to have more money in your pocket. Untrue - they want to have more of your money in their pocket.

Yep, they've given up trying to hold onto power.
