Sad news Frankie Perdue has died. Purported and oft misreported cause of death was unsubstantiated at best, leaving us knowing only that he indeed did go to the poultry house in the sky. There seem to be at least these few things which are known. his last meal was chicken. he was not chicken himself and was heard to utter in his last moments: "cluck cluck cluck" as one of his 'lightly seasoned and coated tenders' lodged in his throat. Loosely translated this meant that he was aware that he was going to the hen house, and from his actions he made no attempt to stop it from happening not even cracking open a bottle of Wishbone dressing. His next statement was less understood but it is known he shall never make another peep. I wonder if he'll still be head rooster.

How sad to hear of David Kosoff's demise, especially as I thought he shifted off this mortal doobrey years ago. If only I had known, he would have been under consideration for 2005. Oh well, there is still Dame Vera. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/beds/bu...rts/4378131.stm

At last after all these desperate years of searching, I've finally found a picture of Glyn Worsnip. Glyn left the planet in 1996, headed for Cerebellar Ataxia armed with the Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy and a sweater wearing companion by the name of Doc Cox. Indeed, even Patrick Moore thought Cerebellar Ataxia was a rare constellation when he was approached and secretly filmed for a episode of the notorious Brasseye series, that to date has never been shown on british television. Channel 4 hold the episodes fate in their hands. Thats Life. Don't panic! Publicity photograph: Worsnip & 'Doc' Cox, Interstellar shenanigans; The search for Cerebellar Ataxia, 1996. Reminding us that universal hitch-hiking is not safe and can be dangerous.

George Atkinson, who opened the United States' first video-rental store, in West Los Angeles in 1977, has died of emphysema at his home in Northridge, California. He was 69. In the fall of 1977, George Atkinson bought one VHS and one Betamax copy of each of the first 50 movie titles that were then being sold to the public. Announcing the availability of the videos for rent in a one-column-inch ad in the Los Angeles Times in December 1977, Atkinson launched the first video rental store, Video Station, a 600-square-foot storefront on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeless. In order to raise capital, Atkinson charged $50 for an "annual membership" and $100 for a "lifetime membership," which provided the opportunity to rent the videos for $10 a day. Atkinson was soon threatened with a lawsuit for renting the videos, but discovered that U.S. copyright law gave him the right to rent and resell videos he owned. Atkinson went on as an entrepreneur to create the Video Station chain of video stores; at its peak, the chain had over 600 franchised outlets. Atkinson retired in 1997 George Atkinson

This should be elsewhere on this site, but the hell with it, rank hath its priviledges. Chris was a very good friend of mine. He taught me to rope and let me hang out with him at numerous rodeos and concert appearances. I knew he had not been doing well, but couldn't accept this was coming. Very sad day for lots and lots of fans, including myself, of one of the most talented, modest, and above all, honest men who ever lived. I'm going to go cry in my Copenhagen now. And now, hypocrite that I am, I'm going to go merge that Teresa Wright thread where it belongs; then get very, very drunk. -TH

Wikipedia ASPEN, Colo. - Hunter S. Thompson, the acerbic counterculture writer who popularized a new form of fictional journalism in books like "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," fatally shot himself Sunday night at his home, his son said. He was 67. "Hunter prized his privacy and we ask that his friends and admirers respect that privacy as well as that of his family," Juan Thompson said in a statement released to the Aspen Daily News. Pitkin County Sheriff Bob Braudis, a personal friend of Thompson, confirmed the death to the News. Sheriff's officials did not return calls to The Associated Press late Sunday. Juan Thompson found his father's body. Thompson's wife, Anita, was not home at the time. Besides the 1972 drug-hazed classic about Thompson's time in Las Vegas, he is credited with pioneering New Journalism — or "gonzo journalism" — in which the writer made himself an essential component of the story. An acute observer of the decadence and depravity in American life, Thompson wrote such books as "Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail" in 1973 and the collections "Generation of Swine" and "Songs of the Doomed." His first ever novel, "The Rum Diary," written in 1959, was first published in 1998. Other books include "Hell's Angels" and "The Proud Highway." His most recent effort was "Hey Rube: Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and The Downward Spiral of Dumbness."

Bill "Billy" Boucher (born November 10, 1899 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada-?) was a Canadian professional ice hockey rightwinger who played in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins and New York Americans. He also played for the New Haven Eagles and Bronx Tigers of the Canadian-American Hockey League. Billy Boucher was a dangerous scorer who spent the bulk of his career in the 1920s with the Montreal Canadiens. At his peak he topped the 15 goal mark four straight years and played a gritty style when necessary. The Ottawa native spent four years in the local senior league with the Munitions club beginning in 1916-17. After playing in the Northern Ontario Hockey Association for Iroquois Falls Paper in 1920-21, Boucher made his NHL debut with the Canadiens. He scored 23 goals in 1922-23 then scored eight points in five playoff games the next year to help Montreal win the Stanley Cup. In addition to his offensive exploits, Boucher led the NHL in penalty minutes in 1923 and 1925. ......but is he famous enough..
