The "Like" Thief - forum etiquette

Recommended Posts

I've been trying to come up with a name for this situation that happens on forums. Person A makes a joke (possibly the joke is not immediately obvious). Then person B responds to person A's post by basically repeating the joke or the punchline, or overtly stating the humorous part that was implied in the original. Person B then gets several likes from forum members, while person A, who wrote the initial witticism, doesn't. but all person B did was show they understand the joke, or at best reword it, they didn't create it.

Possible names:

A like thief

A like burglar

A like parasite

A piggy-like (from piggy back) [I was thinking person A could respond to person B's posts by saying "Enjoy your piggy-likes"]

An example, relating to Boris Johnson

*News article about Boris and his policy on child support*

A: Boris shows his deep understanding of this policy area

B: lol he has so many kids he's become an expert

A: Enjoy your piggy-likes, asshole

Social media was supposed to make us happy....but it seems that every supposedly great innovation only causes more depression.

In a way it is a relation of the "whoosh", because person B missed the whole joke first time round. So maybe a "whoosh like"?

And to get really meta, this thread is now actually quite a good example of it.

I commented on this very thing a few days back about someone posting an obit and the follow up comment on the obit, which basically rebooted the obit, got several likes and the person ‘won the day’ because of it.  I said shouldn’t the OP have won the day?
There are a lot of dolts around here, @Youth in Asia, but I shall never count you among them.

The Innovations catalogue, however, was the source of much joyous entertainment.
