The Old Crem 3,628 Posted December 4, 2021 Probably not famous enough for his own thread but if he does die he should Q/O as his life has been interesting and worthy of a broadsheet Obit.
arghton 6,867 Posted December 4, 2021 There are three former Greek Presidents: Sartzetakis (92), Karolos Papoulias (92) and Prokopis Pavlopoulos (71), could just make this a joint thread for all three Papoulias looks, well, like a man his age and Pavlopoulos has (advanced?) COPD.
drol 12,130 Posted December 4, 2021 Aspiration pneumonia, which makes me presume he is bedridden or extremely frail. Rumoured dead multiple times. Good pick for next year.
arghton 6,867 Posted December 4, 2021 https://www.ekathimerini.com/news/1173126/former-president-sartzetakis-hospitalized-in-icu-with-pneumonia/ Sartzetakis was initially admitted to the hospital last Wednesday (Dec. 1) but had to be transferred to the ICU on Friday after he developed acute respiratory failure, Laiko said, adding that his condition is “stable.”

drol 12,130 Posted December 26, 2021 Well, not unexpected at all. I had him on a list of "dying people" about three years ago and he was the last survivor.

Not many reports of ill health or hospitalisations though. Of course, he was still a 92.5-year-old man.

He was actually frequently in hospital. In 2018 he broke his hip, some months later he was hospitalised again after collpasing. Last hospitalization was in April this year. At least three-four hospital stays in the last two years.
arghton 6,867 Posted December 26, 2021 They've still got three former living heads of state (but for how long?): Constantine II, King 1964-1973: UTI in 2013, strokes in 2016 and 2018 according to news sites, serious heart attack in 2019, pneumonia and pulmonary edema this month. Sartzetakis, President 1985-1990: Aspiration pneumonia, acute respiratory failure this month. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, President 2015-2020: Suffering from COPD, hospitalised last month with covid despite being vaccinated twice. However, only 71 and not as frail as the two above.
arghton 6,867 Posted February 3, 2022 I was searching for updates on his health just a few days ago. Would've been an easy Electoral DP hit, not sure why I didn't pick him. Probably didn't think he'd make it to the starting line. (Yet I picked people like Lopo do Nascimento and C. Virata who seem to have completely recovered from what they've had)
