Imelda 621 Posted December 19, 2023 I couldn't find a thread that deals with alcohol, pubs etc. Sad news for the CAMRA types today: Bessie Davies, the “iconic” publican of the Dyffryn Arms pub in the Gwaun Valley in Pembrokeshire, has died at the age of 93. The Dyffryn Arms, fondly known by locals simply as Bessie’s, has featured in The Good Beer Guide for 40 successive years, despite having no wifi, no television, no bar, and serves “only Bass” through a hatch in the wall. Davies, who worked in the pub before becoming the owner for 73 years, died peacefully on Saturday 16 December and was one of the UK’s longest serving publicans. https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/2023/12/93-year-old-landlady-whose-welsh-pub-served-only-bass-has-died/

Spade_Cooley 9,536 Posted December 19, 2023 Could always expand the vigneron thread to all alcohols. Can't really see who else will qualify for discussion in this thread other than Tim Martin and the Guinness family.
JQW 283 Posted December 19, 2023 Well, there's Humphrey Smith, the miserable sod who owns the Sam Smith's brewery. There will be a lot of celebrating, particular in Tadcaster, when the old scrote finally pegs it.

Yes I saw that one - feels like we need something in the 'proper place'. 36 minutes ago, Spade_Cooley said: Could always expand the vigneron thread to all alcohols. But yes, mashing the two together would be good.
