Entry now sent! Hopefully it  is good enough that it can help atone for my large number of List of the missed on the DDP!

Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged a comb across my head...

That was my first mistake, I make Ross Kemp look like Robin Gibb in his hey day.

Busy morning, lots of last minute entries, with a few hours to go before closing. If you haven't submitted a team, get them in!

I'd like to thank players for submitting their teams so far, lot of love for this game. And surprisingly few disqualifications.

I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying I hope a certain ex-President of the US lives to see July 1st, otherwise chaos will ensue. ;)

I'm pretty sure Bill Clinton, George W Bush, Barack Obama and yes, even Donald Trump will see July 1.

Well, it is 1 July so the game is ON!

27 players, thank you so much for your support. The teams are up on the Masterlist on page 1, make sure you have checked them for accuracy (it's late and I cannot be bothered). Anyone found to have died with a date of death before today will be subbed from your Subs list.

Feel free to help yourself to nibbles, but not Nibbles the security hound. He'll have your arm off that one! Otherwise, take a drink on the balcony (any fatalities are at your own risk), feed the dolphin in the swimming pool (watch out, it's mating season hereabouts!) or relax and watch your favourite death news on the tellybox and curse your luck you didn't pick them. Channels can be changed to Wimbledon, the Euros, Glastonbury, and there will be a late night sitting for Election 2024 (for some reason the BBC channels don't work that night!).

Expect a lot of aimless wandering about until you get a hit. Punching the air is acceptable, but no punching the guy on the complaints desk. That's me!

Settle in, it's a long long time, from July to December. The fun here is unlimited!

And now, some music (let me hear you say YEAH!!!):

And so afaik, we have courted our first hit with Vic Seixas. First leaderboard above.

@MariNisia puts a Joker on the board straight away and gains the 50 Point bonus. It may be that they would wish to hold off converting it now and await how other cards play out to maximise points. Help with this aspect will always be given if players wish to discuss tactics by PM.

The excitement is palpable!

Bloody cripes!  I thought my pick of Vic was out of left field!  And here I've only bagged the lowest of six cards dealt....y'all make things tough!

Perhaps scores with a Sub Jim Inhofe and draws 2 Diamonds for a whole 2 points. Hey, it's 2 points more than most!

Shelley Duvall has Olive Oyled the wheels of success, giving ladyfiona and diego their second hits already.

Joining the leaderboard are Torva Messor with a hit, and Captain Hemlock having her so far down his subs' list his star was not really Shining! Hemlock draws K Clubs for 13 Points.

So Jane McAlevey has organised herself out of life with a late QO.

That shakes up the leaderboard, as plenty of people saw a Labour victory in a different way! Torva Messor and wannamaker join the upper echelons with a second hit. New faces on the board include JoeMoneypenny, Captain Chorizo, Buffalo Phil and Yorkshire Banker.

Both Grimgrass and gcreptile also gain a first hit, and - let the fireworks go off in the Casino courtyard - as we welcome our first bonuses for each of them, both scoring with an Ace and delivering 5 additional points.

Up the workers, and updated Leaderboard.

What's happening? Picks are dying every other day! Odd. Yes, on odd numbered days!

Anyway, setting the Heathers alight with a Charming hit is Shannen Doherty. The Old Crem joins the leaderboard, and several scoring players also had hits. But it is ladyfiona racing away with it at the moment with a third hit. No bonuses.

diego had Miss Shannen as a sub and draws 5 Spades for 5 additional points.

Leaderboard updated.

Based on what's going on with players name or surname starting with an "S" i'm predicting Jayapataka Swami or Sven-Göran Eriksson to be next, lol.

Our first hit on an even numbered day comes with Bob Newhart, telephone operator and driving instructor and part time sitcom star and comedian.

Joining the leaderboard this time are YoungWillz (me!), Bibliogryphon and msc. Those additional 2 points Perhaps garnered early on mean that, with a proper hit off their team, they jump up above the glut of players on one hit (and no hits obviously). Grimgrass now has played two hearts with a Newhart hit and Captain Hemlock slides into second place.

No bonuses this time round, leaderboard updated.

If you know of any lesser celebrities who have died, you can always Reach Out, I'll Be There.

Meantime, I appear to be the only player who picked Abdul Duke Fakir here, making him my Sugar Pie Honey Bunch and giving me a second hit. No bonuses.

Leaderboard updated.

"Aggedor, dor, dor, push pineapple shake the tree, Aggedor, dor, dor, push pineapple grind coffee..." (An oblique reference, I'll admit!).

Ysanne Churchman died way back on 4 July, but we are only now being told the news. The Archers took aim and sent her on her way to Alpha Centauri.

ladyfiona is on fire, gaining a fourth hit and we aren't even at the end of July. MariNisia gets hit number two and now has a decision as to whether to convert their Joker for their earlier hit or wait it out to see how the cards fall. At the moment, no bonuses.

Biblio is awaiting a QO for Ray Lawler, but it's early in the day.

I'll wait a little longer. This game is highly addictive and very challenging, but I don't want to make a mistake.

Thanks for your excellent work as a host, @YoungWillz.

You're really good at this. This casino is very proud of the quality of your work. ;)

You all right doll?

Yeah, multiply that by 17 times and throw in it is still summer. The stars have obviously aligned for Biblio as he has a solo hit with Australian actor/playwright Ray Lawler, his play Summer of the Seventeenth Doll having premiered as long ago as 1955. Crikey mate, he was 103, after all.

Biblio's second hit pushes him up the board, but no bonuses.

Leaderboard updated.
