TQR 14,475 Posted 7 hours ago I hate to say it, but it rather flushes down the swanny the game’s credibility if we’re just avoiding voting songs up because of some other voters’ fear of the extraordinary. I’ll continue to vote up my favourite songs, subtract from those that are the least deserving (mostly the least interesting), and just hope that some others might consider doing this too. Thankfully, though ToL and Paranoid Android are gone, I’ve still got a fair few to choose from this time.
AstroKat 594 Posted 7 hours ago I never expected Temple of Love to win, because it was always going to get voted down, I was hoping it would go a bit further though. In my opinion it was the best thing in the final, and I would have carried on voting it up, probably even if it was on just 2 points, which is unusual for me. Not sure what I'm going to vote up now tbh.

But there were 3 people absolutely bent on killing it putting -6 every vote so even if you me and toast use our +4 every single day we're still going down the pan by 6 a day. Add @TQR for another +4 and it's still -2 a day. Most others might downvote it once in a while... It's a game of popularity. Look what happens when people vote in anything eh? Trump that. TQR 14,475 Posted 6 hours ago It's interesting, looking at our list of winners; the results aren't quite as bad as perhaps it sounded like I was making out, but many of them strike me as being quite a safe, expected choice. Obviously there's no telling people what to vote for, other than just to be true to what their actual song opinions are, but it'd be nice to see a bit of bravery from time to time. 50s No.1s: Bobby Darin — Mack The Knife - Interesting? Don't get me wrong, I understand that it's a popularity contest. Doesn't mean that I can't be annoyed about it though. For the first couple of days there was only 1 person voting it down, which for my money was predictable, with the extra votes we could have easily kept ToL in net positive territory and consequently in the running for a while longer. It wasn't until the second person joined in that we ended up in net negative territory, and once the third person joined in it was effectively over.

AFAIR It was the same 3 people in the previous round and I just cba because it was only a matter of time. In the end though my failing is probably that I just cba enough in general about it, I like what I like and by now I know those with similar musical tastes hereabouts (eta: yourself clearly amongst them) and those who pick dross with unerring accuracy. It's probably my limited attention span in the end - mea culpa.

So it was a matter of getting behind the ones less likely to attract hate.

While people argue about Blur and Oasis with regard to who did 90s Britpop best, Suede gets my vote.
