Banshees Scream 110 Posted May 2, 2005 LONDON (AP) - Adolf Hitler was a shaking, graying, weakened man who ``sank into himself'' in the final days before his suicide on April 30, 1945, according to the first published account of his nurse, who worked in his bunker as Allied forces closed in on Berlin. Erna Flegel, now 93 and living in a nursing home in northern Germany, told Britain's Guardian newspaper in an interview published Monday that Hitler ``had a lot of gray hair and gave the impression of a man at least 15 to 20 years older,'' toward the end of his life She finally came out they say after 60 years of being silent. Could she be a 2006 canidate? But her fame may be the problum..
BrunoBrimley 86 Posted July 29, 2005 Why would her fame be a problem? Isn't that the precise nature of this site? Or are you meaning the negative notoriety might create an uneasy tension among the masses?

Or are you meaning the negative notoriety might create an uneasy tension among the masses? Having survived the wrath of the teutonic masses after the deaths of Schmeling and Riefenstahl, we would be well equpped to deal with tedious nit-picking of the finer points of German history. I'd like to see her on myself.
Teddy 21 Posted July 29, 2005 Having survived the wrath of the teutonic masses after the deaths of Schmeling and Riefenstahl, ..... Not to mention Kurt 'what war?' Waldheim.... we would be well equpped to deal with tedious nit-picking of the finer points of German history. Okay, okay - before you start the nit-picking, I know he isn't German. I'm just not sure he wasn't a Nazi
maryportfuncity 10,608 Posted July 29, 2005 Surely she qualifies on the 'right place, right time' basis, like Sister Lucia. Also cos she's written a book and promoted it with some success. Hell, we won't be able to list old Nazis for too long anyway, let's get in there whilst we still can.

Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted July 30, 2005 Back on topic, she's never famous enough. Upon reading the title of this thread, did anyone think, "Oh, that'll be about Erna Flegel"? As far as I'm aware she never actually did anything or than being an unfortunateand very minor historical anecdote. If she'd administered poison that killed Hitler, then sure. But she didn't, and she's just now writing a book?

But she didn't, and she's just now writing a book? It certainly looks like she wasn't famous enough, as she appears to have died on February 16, 2006 without attracting any attention. At least, her Wikipedia entry says she's dead, and has a scan of what purports to be a death notice for her.
Lady Grendel 139 Posted March 27, 2009 Thought it be time to clean up, and give some long-time-dead-threads there long diserving death notice. A pointless exercise Vaagheid, old threads like this are not closed or deleted, so you are wasting your time .

CP, yes I remember that too and thanks, I've been a bit baffled about what exactly Vaagheid wants the mods to do. I can't see a way to add the triangle to the thread title, it's maybe only something an admin can do .
