timmyun 0 Posted August 5, 2005 Hello everybody, I'm new on here but have been looking in for sometime. Great Forum, very useful for my (relatively) new Death Sweepstake. I organise a league seven players with 'teams' of eleven with the first to ten deaths the winner. We all pay in £2 a month and hope that it lasts a while as the winner will collect a nice amount. Glad there are others around with a sense of humour about these sorts of things, I've been very surprised at the amount of people that know about my league that aren't offended. Even my parents keep an eye on the obituaries for me. Any advice on sources of more information (such as ailing celebrities?) would be grraetly appreciated. Keep it up, I will be checking in from time to time. Thanks, Tim P.S. Our league leader has 'celebrated' 4 deaths from 11 since february!! I however have just had Sir John Mills. timmyun 0 Posted August 5, 2005 Whatever it takes! Should have said "My only points so far have come from the sad passing of cinematic genius Sir John Mills" I haven't had Vera Lynn yet but will look forward to it!
Guest IYG Posted August 5, 2005 Advice you say, well, I can tell you but then I'll have to kill you. Personally, starting with next year I will have old people on the list, that's my trick.
timmyun 0 Posted August 5, 2005 I'm stuck with the team I've got. Like I said, it's first to ten out of eleven. My team is: Nelson Mandela Vera Lynn Cliff Michelmore Yitshak Shamir Augusto Pinochet Henry Kissinger Jerry Lewis Alexander Solzhenytsin Norman Wisdom Tom Finney and already down, Sir John Mills Any reflections on my 1st XI? Guest IYG Posted August 5, 2005 Yitshak Shamir I'd give him a little more time just because the Israeli media never talks about him and his health so as soon as they mention him in something, you'd know the end is near. You seem to have an interesting collection of politicians and others.

Not a terrible list but your missing a whole lot of "Must have on your list canidates" There's always General Pinochet and Jerry Lewis which Augusto was pretty close to kicking the old bucket earlier this year from a stroke and and Jerry is not in the best health to say the same. I suppose you can also keep an eye on Nelson Mandela and if luck flies by you Yitshak Shamir.

Tuber Mirum 125 Posted August 5, 2005 Is nobody ordering the pint of Banana Bread Beer then? DWB Completely forgot to try that stuff when I was back home last month. Silly me. Currently enjoying a glass of Reissdorf Kölsch which I paid for myself. Does anyone not already know the joke about the man who walks into a pub with an ostrich and a dwarf? Does anyone not already know the joke about the man who walks into a pub with an ostrich and a dwarf? Don't know the joke. Plus I'm having a hard time believing you paid for the drink. Nope, I don't please enlighten me Mr. Notapotato. As for Banana Bread Beer, that sounds revolting, having tasted banana bread itself the thought of turning it into alcohol is worse, have to say chocolate beer is quite nice as are most fruit beers (a Belgian speciality I think). I have tried a banana cream liqueur, it is a bit like Baileys but disgustingly sweet, can't recommend it. I am currently enjoying a nice glass of red wine (Barolo). Welcome to the forum timmyun, forgot to mention it earlier

Magere Hein 1,400 Posted August 6, 2005 I myself am drinking er... water. Dangerous stuff, that. Water is a major cause of death, but dilution with e.g. ethanol makes consumption less of a shock. regards, Hein
