Anyway, what did anyone think of John McCririck's little talk at the funeral. Although it was possibly not the best place to raise the point, I do think he was right when he said it was a slight that Tony Blair didn't turn up for the funeral of his own ex-foreign minister. I think it was entirely appropriate to mention it, the applause from the people listening outside St Giles' demonstrated that, but McCrirrick would have helped his own credibility and made his point more strongly if he had left it at that, and not gone on to complain about other political matters. (In)famous for throwing the Mace of the floor of the House of Commons, being good friends with Gaddafi, and thinking the Russians were in Afghanistan on a 'civilising mission'. Since being dumped by the Labour party, he joined the Scottish Socialist Party, and still seems to be onvolved in politics (just not as an elected member!). He was seriously ill back in Feb, but appears to have recovered. I saw Ron out and about last week, as usual walking his greyhound in the Goldenacre area of Edinburgh.
