In my personal opinion, the Union became acceptable in 1707 because there was a chance that the Regal Union of 1603 whould be broken on the death of Queen Anne. The English Parliament had passed the Act of Settlement whereby the protestant rulers of the Electorate of Hanover would succeed to the English throne. However the Scottish Parliament had not addressed the issue. The Scots chose to pass the Security Act whereby they reserved the right to choose which ever successor for Anne that they pleased. So in retalliation of this the English passed the Alien Act which basically said that accept the Hanoverians or face an even worse economic State. It was then desided that an encorporating union was the best solution with one monarch and one Parliament. And ofcourse there was the greedy Scots eager to get a piece of England's Empire as the Navigation Act was finally lifted as well as the payed off Scots MPs...... My life is truely boring.... (and stay off of Thompson Street today) By any change, by fibreless do you mean something like this: So there I was wandering home late the other morning before the afternoon had set into the prelude of evening whne I saw it.............pine cones and pine branches strewn across the side walk in front of a crappy store that over charges for every thing from sweaters to weenie warmers. I checked the date on the calendar in the box near the corner and saw it was niot yet the end of the first week of May. Why were tyhe Christmas decorations going up so soon I wondered but alas I never shall know as a loud piercing scream awoke me and I found Santa Claus had become stuck in my electric fire place chimney.
