football_fan 42 Posted September 1, 2005 Fats Domino decided to ride out the storm...his house in the 9th ward in New Orleans is underwater and he hasn't been heard from since Monday afternoon. Lookin' grim. It's a pity we did not include him on this year's deathlist.
MyBrainHurts2 4 Posted September 1, 2005 he's on my personal Death Pool list. He'd be my 5th since we started May 1st.
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted September 1, 2005 he's on my personal Death Pool list. He'd be my 5th since we started May 1st. As I understand it, the situation in Nu Awlins is rather confused, so don't get your hopes up yet. BTW: welcome to DeathList, where the living need a life. regards, Hein
Boudicca 702 Posted September 1, 2005 welcome to DeathList, where the living need a life. What a great motto! Do you think the admin team will go for it?
Guest Shuffler Posted September 1, 2005 'Fats' Domino is missing, a celebrity victim of Katrina perhaps. Ain't that a shame
Paul Bearer 6,130 Posted September 1, 2005 Iain, you could have the good grace to actually wait until he's officially declared dead, before posting his name on the near misses thread. This story has already been posted on the Katrina thread OOOooooo!!!! Uncanny eh?
Paul Bearer 6,130 Posted September 1, 2005 He obviously wasn't on blueberry hill when the waters came in
Boudicca 702 Posted September 1, 2005 At least two of the songs listed here would seem relevant..
TheProfessor 0 Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) No confirmation of this as of yet, and I hope he's ok, but Fats Domino has been reported missing in the Hurricane Katrina aftermath. http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/09/0...o.ap/index.html [Moved from "Near Misses" thread -- MH] Edited September 1, 2005 by Magere Hein
Star Crossed 33 Posted September 1, 2005 Where's he gone?
MyBrainHurts2 4 Posted September 1, 2005 From what little I know about him (other than his music), he's been in poor health since the late 1990's...enough that he's almost completely stopped making public appearances. I don't know what those health factors are though. Another factor is that the 9th ward in New Orleans is a pretty poor area, so I'm wondering if, between health and finances, he had a realistic chance and the resources to get out of there. Harvester Of Souls 40 Posted September 1, 2005 (edited) Anyone have this 1000 - 1 longshot? Fats Domino Missing... Edited September 1, 2005 by Magere Hein
Harvester Of Souls 40 Posted September 1, 2005 Just read this after replying to the Katrina thread... is Fats shark bait?
maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted September 1, 2005 The thought of Fats Domino dying partly due to poverty is genuinely sad. The man was a true star of his era. Hope he's still hangin' in there.
MyBrainHurts2 4 Posted September 2, 2005 Well, Fats has been found alive and in good condition, all things considered. As far as parts of the US resembling a 3rd world country...oh yeah, definitely. Near total anarchy and thug rule. I think we started working towards become a 3rd world country when a little less than half of us (and I'm not one of them, either time) elected Cowboy Dubya as president. The BBC a say Fats Domino was rescued, but is still missing. My guess is that he's on Blueberry Hill. It's always a good idea to head for high ground when there's flooding.
