Cerberus: My life is greatly improved for your post. Timothy Dudley Smith, composer of that toe tapper 'Tell Out My Soul' lives. He'll be 79 on Boxing Day.

For anyone else looking to check out hymn writers I suggest having a look at the portrait of Fanny Crosby, she looks like some cult rock star.

Timothy Dudley-Smith gone to check in with his scripture writer: https://www.e-n.org.uk/uk-news/timothy-dudley-smith-dies/

DDP pick.

I actually think that I was primed for deadpooling by the Methodist Hymn Book. During sermons I would flick through the pages and calculate the life spans of the hymn writers.

When Hymns and Psalms was published circa 1982 I think only Timothy Dudley-Smith and Sidney Carter (Lord of the Dance) were living. Now they are all gone.

The most significant living Hymn writer now is probably Graham Kendrick (Shine Jesus Shine) but the less said about that the better

This thread's hotting up. Yer man Kendrick is a fucking machine!! There are rock bands selling out arenas with duller websites than him. He can knock them out, promote them and sell them. Obitable too I assume.
