Dr Strangelove 14 Posted October 22, 2005 From Shat.com More than 35 years after the release of his debut solo album, William Shatner teams up with Ben Folds to create Has Been, a surprisingly pop-driven, lyrically potent collection of songs written by the duo. With the exception of “Trying,” co-written by Folds and novelist Nick Hornby (High Fidelity, About A Boy), “Real” by Brad Paisley, and Pulp’s “Common People,” Shatner proves to be a witty and self-deprecating poet, while Folds’ talent for crafting the perfect pop melody has never been more evident. Has Been is NOW IN STOCK in our store! A must for Christmas! Hearing Bill sing "Common People" must be worth the price alone.

Seriously tempting... maybe the album contains some beautiful music I could ask to be played at my funeral? Editted to add... Listening to Bill sing Common People is worth the cover price alone. Prince Vulpine 0 Posted October 22, 2005 My kids are into Beatle songs at the moment (my fault), and we're discussing what the songs actually mean. To aid me in this task, last week I stuck the words 'Lucy In The Sky' into Answers.com It responded: 'LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS or did you mean: William Shatner's musical career'
Banshees Scream 110 Posted October 22, 2005 My kids are into Beatle songs at the moment (my fault), and we're discussing what the songs actually mean. To aid me in this task, last week I stuck the words 'Lucy In The Sky' into Answers.com It responded: 'LUCY IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS The song truely means what it is entitled. It was created for the purpose of John Lennon getting back at the media for thinking it meant LSD. His son drew a picture in school of "Lucy in the sky with diamends" some random woman. I'm guessing the media got some hold of it and thought it related to LSD or some kind of drugs which it did not. - So tell your children it's about a cartoon\drawing. BrunoBrimley 86 Posted October 28, 2005 Most surprising thing about this is that Shatner is still alleged to be alive.
maryportfuncity 10,700 Posted October 28, 2005 I'll endorse the truly unique charm of Has Been, an album like no other of late. Ben Folds also deserves credit for musical arrangements that take Shatner to a level that mocks The Transformed Man, his previous album. The man would be a massive hit onstage at Glastonbury.
