Nick Du Toit / Simon Mann / Mark Thatcher

Recommended Posts

If we ever had need of oil from Equatorial Guinea, do you think they'd want Mark Thatcher as a 'sweetner' on the deal?

Now that would be funny.

The Daily Express think that Simon Mann is "Set To Go Free"

Having read the article, I am not sure how they arrived at this conclusion. :banghead:

I didn't realise the Daily Express still existed ... but they'd be top of my list of national newspapers which will soon die

How can anyone be so ignorant as to not realise the Daily Express still exists?

I don't read the thing, but I see it there, every morning, nestling aside my favoured copy.

Despite the absence of Giles I am sure you can omit the Express from your Death List.

If you're not too busy lamenting and defending the convicted paedophile Chris Langham of course...

Cheers,

Simon Mann's nemesis, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is visiting Zimbabwe this week.

His official reason for visiting is to open the annual Zimbabwe Agricultural Show (which could be interesting, seeing as nothing seems to grow in Zimbabwe any more)

However some press reports say he is visiting for rather more sinister reasons:

Simon Mann's fate sealed by Obiang's visit to Zimbabwe

Undue influence is going to be exerted on the courts to extradite Simon Mann. If I were I him I would be afraid, very afraid

Obiang's very presence in Harare bodes ill for Simon Mann. No doubt his outstanding appeal against extradition to Equatorial Guinea has been discussed at the highest level. Robert Mugabe's longing for oil from Guinea will almost certainly prevail and Obiang will get what he wants for Christmas this year – Simon Mann tucked up in his cell in Black Beach Prison, Malabo.

Simon Mann's immediate future is so spine chillingly terrible, that I am considering the ultimate sacrilege of replacing him with Nick Du Toit in next year's DDP. I personally think he would be an ideal addition to DL 2008.

According to his lawyer, Simon Mann has been extradited to Equatorial Guinea before his legal team were able to launch an appeal. Despite claims that he will not face the death penalty, Black Beach beckons.

Yes, despite the best efforts of the Thatcher/Archer cabal and these 85 loyal friends*, Simon has indeed been escorted to Sands Resort, Black Beach, where he can enjoy the many activities on offer including, but not limited to:-

- fighting over rice and rat meat with his buddy Nick.

- staving off dysentery.

- avoiding genital contact with live wires.

- thinking up new ways to kill Mark Thatcher.

- rapid weight loss.

Oh well, at least buggery's on the decrease at Black Beach these days. Although, he did attend Eton... :D

* I wondered who would create a petition to keep Simon out of EG, so I googled the name of the petition author, Richard Graywahl. It appears that most of the signatories are friends of his, or friends of theirs etc. but what exactly is Richard's vested interest?

A few short days after (apparently, given DDT's link above) being snatched unlawfully from his prison cell in Zimbabwe, he appears today in shackles in (what is purported to be) Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The plot thickens. And the sh*t deepens. No guilty men in Shawshank...

"Ah, Meester Simon! I take-a your bags to your room!"

Update: He will stand trial in Equatorial Guinea, according to the Telegraph.

Once again, TAFKAG, you've grasped the wrong end of a relatively simple stick. Please take more care, darling...

Mann fingered filthy gun-running, murdering criminal businessman Ely Calil but, unfortunately, denied any involvement by Archer or Mandelson. See the whole interview here.

Footnote I: Channel 4 were allowed to broadcast this interview only after injunctions from Calil's lawyer and lawyers acting on behalf of Amanda, Simon's "adoring" wife, were overturned by a high court judge. Here's an article in the military forums (uk), which asks "why Mrs Mann should seek to silence her husband, especially when naming names could well, as Equatorial Guinea has suggested, be his ticket to freedom." Why, indeed? An interesting case this, and I doubt we'll ever get fully to the bottom of it.

Footnote II: I was intrigued by the reference in the report to the fact that there is only one known photo of Ely Calil in existence, taken 30-odd years ago at his wedding (to an absolute stunner, see the film). How much power and control over his life must this guy have, if he can control the use of his image like this? He has huge financial interests all over the world, and is a notorious shithammer businessman. If I've heard of the guy prior to this E.G. affair, then he must be pretty well-known. Fascinating.

What a little sh*t bag you are. :P What are you like 5?

Excuse me .. but

If any moderators could do a little 'IP address check' I would be interested in the results. Taf kag is littering the database with verbal kisses so that means it definitely calls.

Any chance to be the bully Banshees and you seize it don't you. I'm sure TAFKAG can look after himself. What few posts he has made are a 100 times more legible than anything you have ever posted. So we know he isn't one of your inventions. His issue is with SC who seems to be down to the ankle bone. I'm sure they can sort out their differences without your helpful remarks. You really are one of life's creeps.

Look, Godot.

I've given you several reasons to view my existence here as nothing more then a negative effort. As I understand, you are a veteran journalist who enjoys heated debates, sausages, and immaculate grammar. The fact of the matter is I wasn't 'bullying Tafkag' I just thought his explicit nature 'was off topic' but was also very charismatic. The reason I question his originality is lately 'And I'm sure it's not just me' I've been noticing what I believe to be second and third identities. I feel everybody should just 'be who they are' and with his strong entrance here on DL, I'm skeptical. If he is for real, then we have a new addition that could make everything much more interesting.

Anyway, It's just situations like this where I need to correct those who misinterpret the circumstances. I hope you understand.

By the way Godot, I just want you to know I appreciate you're efforts and I'm not here to run you down. I'm not here to keep you awake at night. I'm not here to raise you're blood pressure. I'm not here to increase you're depression. I'm not here to make you want to shrivel up into a little ball in the corner of you're bed room. I feel that I may owe you some form of apology, so I apologize.

Everybody knew it was me, it wasn't my intention to conceal my identity. That's the difference Monoclinic.

What I'm doing is not hypocritical... it's called 'asking questions' and one great man once said never stop.

Ah you beat me to it TAFKAG, though I could go with Hilary Duff instead though she is neither great nor a man

I'm close to hijacking this thread completely so to prevent such an event I'm going to say ... Welcome TAFKAG.

The standards here are basically 'be informative' and 'entertaining' at the same time. This place cannot be compared to any other because it's variety of intellectual people along with it's 'general idea' can never be matched. Just try to be on topic, and don't f**k yourself side ways. ;)

Hang on a minute, if I'm reading this right, this means that the inaugural Banshees Scream Award for f*****t of the Year in the Monkeys was won by none other than Banshees Scream. Heartfelt congratulations, it was so thoroughly deserved. The Philosopher, hey? You old rogue, you.

I'm guessing great men from Einstein to Peter Beardsley have at some time in their lives delivered some variation on 'I need a sh*t' or 'milk and no sugar, please.' Doesn't make them statements profound though, does it?

Simon Mann is reported to have cut a deal with prosecutors in Equatorial Guinea.

According to sources, the Old Etonian, 58, will stand trial in Equatorial Guinea's capital, Malabo, next month, and will name the coup plotters in court. One friend said he expected Mann to be sentenced to six years, with his four years served in Zimbabwe deducted, and that after a year he would be quietly released. But the deal will not apply unless the former officer... can substantiate his allegations.
