BrunoBrimley 86 Posted December 10, 2005 I was thinking about this lately maybe just because it is that time of year when people die, left and right and right and left. some are old and some are young and as we all know gramma did indeed face a gruesome end when she got herself runned over by a reindeer. We told her to ride her moped but she insisted on walking.......sad time it was but at least I got her red and blue scarf so... So anyway, I was wondering if you guys and gals and others ever gave a lot of thought to how you will meet up with your end just before you go to San Pedro and he allows or denies you access. Do you wonder if it'll be quick? Slow? Do you ask yourself if youins will be alone or surrounded by your greedy relatives? What exactly do you expect or hope for? I guess I just want to get everyones take on this. Thanks all.
Handrejka 1,903 Posted December 10, 2005 I often think about it. I don't want to live that long, early 60s will be good enough for me. I come from a long living family generally, one grandma lived til she was 91, all her sibling except one reached at least 80 and my dad's parents both reached their mid-80s so I think I'll do ok. I doubt I'll have that much family left as my borthers are quite a bit older than me and I'm not planning on having kids. I'd like to die in my own home rather than in hospital and I'd prefer to die of disease than accident/murder/suicide
Cerberus 296 Posted December 10, 2005 I don't want to live that long, early 60s will be good enough for me. Handrejka, I doubt if you'll feel that way when you're in your late 50s. As long as I'm not incapable of looking after myself, I want to go on as long as I can, at least long enough to see my grandchildren's weddings. Besides, I want to get back everything I'm paying into my company pension, which means that I need to live to about 112. Don't really mind how, as long as I'm not in pain (so no burning, please), and I have the chance to say goodbye, and of course to post notification of my imminent demise on Deathlist, like Death List Observer. [quote Possibly but I feel I've already achieved most of what I want to already. I don't want children and my parents will be long gone by then - my dad was nearly 50 when I was born - so I don't think there'll be many people to miss me and it'll just be selfish to live any longer
Tempus Fugit 214 Posted December 10, 2005 I'm expecting my demise to be very underwhelming. I really don't care if I die today or 50 years hence. All I hope is that it's quick and I don't linger. Futility is the watchword of the permanently jaded.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted December 10, 2005 I doubt I'll have that much family left as my borthers are quite a bit older than me and I'm not planning on having kids. I'd like to die in my own home rather than in hospital and I'd prefer to die of disease than accident/murder/suicide Early 60's today is much younger then it was say 20 years ago. People today are living untill there 80's and everyone is getting older all the time. I wouldn't be suprised if soon they started calling 60 "Middle Aged" - Think about it handrejka. Near death experiences are everywhere. When your driving your car or climbing A mountain or perhaps just walking the streets? Although most are easily avoided. If you stand in the middle of a busy highway and you know A car is coming, chances are you would be rewarding yourself with death? But if you move it will be just another miss for say the acctual "Grim Reaper". It's all A - spin of A wheel. As for myself - Back in April 2 days before I joined the DL I was drinking heavily one night. I passed out in my bed and luckily I was on my side. I vomited in my sleep and if I were on my back there is A chance I could have died asphyxiation. The next morning I had A bad hang over and if I could have died or not remains unknown but I did stop drinking for A while and even now if I drink I drink much lighter. The next day I joined the DL. Another thing about Death - My grandmother in her seventies tells the story about how in the early 90's she had A bad case of pneumonia and she woke up durning the night to see A dark figure who stood huvering over her. For A couple minutes she just staired back at him and soon she fell back asleep. Soon later she recovered from her illness.

Banshees Scream 110 Posted December 10, 2005 Why exactly were you hovering near her bed Banshees? Well i'm not the Grim Reaper? I can't deny though that i'm not some sort of angel of death born on earth. I may very well be?
Windsor 2,233 Posted December 10, 2005 Going by my family history I shall probably die in my early to mid 60s due to cancer or heart problems*. *If I'm not murdered or involved in any serious accidents.
Boudicca 702 Posted December 10, 2005 Why exactly were you hovering near her bed Banshees? Perhaps he was merely hoovering near her bed. Old people can be decidedly messy. All those biscuit crumbs and Werther's Originals wrappers. A bit inconsiderate vacuuming in the middle of the night, though.
Banshees Scream 110 Posted December 10, 2005 Perhaps he was merely hoovering near her bed. How can you compare death to A vacuum cleaner my dear? I know your quite weird but I can see through you Boudicca! Your trying too suggest vacuum salesman David Oreck for the list.
Windsor 2,233 Posted December 10, 2005 Change of plan, according to the new death test, I will die when am 73 years old probably due to a heart attack. Which is nice. (Should I become famous, pencil me on the deathlist 2060 if your still around)
Banshees Scream 110 Posted December 10, 2005 (Should I become famous, pencil me on the deathlist 2060 if your still around) By then I will most likely be A legend - Although i'm guessing A good amount of our members and even moderators will be long gone by your time of dying, but I plan to be around. By then I will most likely be ruling the websight.
