I remember reading somewhere that it's Federal Law to do an autopsy on any President who dies in office, despite how obvious it may be. Don't have a source for it sadly though. I think you'll find it's mandatory to do an autopsy on any murder victim, in order to establish the exact cause of death. Why not look at the body for number of (unnatural) holes and conclude that he was shot x amount of times and died from his injuries.
