Windsor 2,235 Posted December 27, 2006 I had already submitted my team for 2007, Ford was on it. Doesn't bother me because I got him this year. So now my replacement pick, Bernard Manning, is in the team. I was watching some comedy show over christmas and was regretting leaving him off my list. He looks ready to go. Perhaps it's a sign. Then again, does Jesus perform miracles like this, killing off someone so a better pick can be put on...
Octopus of Odstock 2,206 Posted December 27, 2006 Then again, does Jesus perform miracles like this, killing off someone so a better pick can be put on... Well, one has to wonder. Only yesterday, I posted here that I needed one of my 2006 lot who was also on my 2007 list to die so I could put Bandar in - that's only, after the rule changes et al, two of them - Papon & Ford. Lo & behold, Fordy goes. It may not rank with the loaves & fishes, but it's a pretty decent minor miracle by my book.
in eternum+ 22 Posted December 31, 2006 Not entirely sure what you're all on about, but I just wanted to add my own two cents' worth and say that for the first time ever, I've submitted a DDP team - hurrah! I double-checked this year's teams and saw that there are several that did not score any points at all, so I feel that I will at least have some company down at the bottom of the league at the end of 2007. Guess I'm going to actually read this thread from now on... Happy New Year, folks!

Oh, I just got everyone a little distracted politically and sociologically. The thread is ponderously swinging back to its normal focus and if my side conversation keeps on I suspect MH will pull my crap out and start another thread. In the meantime, I have less than six hours to finish my lists. Ciao people!
Windsor 2,235 Posted December 31, 2006 I've probably managed 13th place shared. Unless someone else dies etc etc.
Magere Hein 1,400 Posted December 31, 2006 Tied 21st with seven hits and 31 points. Last year I was tied for 14th place, with 8 hits and 32 points. Extrapolating that, 2007 should land me tied for 28th place with 6 hits and 30 points. Perhaps the new scoring system causes some trouble there, but it's as good a prediction as any. regards, Hein
Rotten Ali 600 Posted December 31, 2006 DDP team submitted with hours to spare. Looks like I finish 6th in this years DDP, not too bad. Well done TF - with that old team of yours I had an idea you would do very well. Watch out for the new age ranges you can't think the same tactic next year will get the same results. Lard Bazaar 3,800 Posted January 1, 2007 Dammit - I entered my team a few days ago, including Marc Almond, and lo and behold, the blighter is on Jools Holland bopping away like there's no tomorrow, not 30 minutes into the New Year. The only thing that looks near death about him is his teeth.

Aww boo hoo! I feel so left out. I'm sure we all could have waited for your list to go up on the DDP site. Oh and by the way. Your name is Rotten Ali, and you are a cheating bastard. I'm going to be fairly pissed off if I'm the only non cheating bastard this year...
Octopus of Odstock 2,206 Posted January 1, 2007 Just in case RK & SB are still battling against the mass of entries I'll post my DDP entry below. Liz Taylor A bizarre choice, I must admit. Considering she was swimming with sharks recently, it doesn't look likely she'll die soon. But I'll guess we will see. Otherwise, a pretty strong team, I admit. Windsor 2,235 Posted January 1, 2007 There is alway one to ruin it for everyone else. For a change, it's not me.. I'm out to win, not much point in entering if you're not really trying. Indeed, but the main aim of the game is to guess who may die in the next year. By selecting those with set execution dates, it does detract from the main purpose of the game. I'm not going to say any more. I've already been horribly rude to one member over this issue last week.
Canadian Paul 97 Posted January 1, 2007 Steve Jobs Picked for pancreatic cancer or thinking he'll suicide over the recent federal investigation? If it's the former, he's very much cured. If it's the latter, I say to cheers to you if the prediction comes true. My list is not going to be nearly as strong, but hopefully fun. No Grove and no al-Bandar since I'd never heard of them if it weren't for all this. Who's your joker by the way? Grove I'm assuming?

True, I'm hoping that she will pull through though and I can pick up points elsewhere and basically luck it from here. Was under the impression Jobs was still not on good form. I was keeping mum about him and even pulled him from the HPDP at the last minute 'cus I had not heard much of late. Steve Adler is another blind spot I'm carrying due to previous ill health though he may have made a good recovery. You never know with HA and stroke victims. One may be small and the next fatal. eejit 9 Posted January 1, 2007 For what it's worth, here is mine. The joker will be the same for many, many teams I guess, as 24 points is too high to risk. Captain Beefheart Estelle Getty Ariel Sharon Fidel Castro Awad Hamed al-Bandar Harold John Blackham Barzan al-Tikriti Henry Allingham Brooke Astor Jack Kevorkian Cahal Daly Jesse Helms Charles Lane Josie Grove = joker Charlton Heston Lee Hazlewood Claude Levi-Strauss Oscar Niemeyer Emiliano Mercado del Toro Peter O'Toole
Mr Pharmacist 0 Posted January 1, 2007 Gosh darn. Never thought of Josie Grove, perfectly within the rules but still she's not famous for anything other than refusing treatment. Virtually my entire list would have to die to win! Finished 56th= in 2006 with the usual provisos not bad for a first go. Its a lot harder than it looks! Naively thought Lee Hazlewood might be a rare choice... he's my joker. Put a couple of chess players in again. I'm cross I didn't put Ian Huntley in, he was my last minute substitute after the death of Saddam so someone else will have to have died last night for him to get in. DevonDeathTrip 2,365 Posted January 1, 2007 I can't remember exactly who I picked, I submitted my team on Dec 14th (I'm a bit obsessive about getting homework in early.) Nick Du Toit is in the team again, but not as my joker, I do hope is isn't a unique pick. I didn't choose Jo5ie Gr0ve, Saddam was my substititute and Barzan is already on my CPDP team, so I didn't bother picking him again. Picks 18,19 and 20 MAY get me a grand total of 44 points when they are shot at dawn one fine Indonesian morning.

I'm glad I didn't choose Josie Grove, I think the Deathlist rule about being famous for being ill should apply next year. My list: Lee Hazlewood joker: Ariel Sharon: Fidel Castro: Kirk Douglas: Ian Brady: Ronnie Biggs: Vassily Smyslov: Boris Yeltsin: Brooke Astor: Alex Higgins: Denis Healey: Ronald Searle: Lady Bird Johnson: Osama bin Laden: Harold Pinter: Charlton Heston: Yegor Gaidar: Andor Lilienthal: Brian Close: Ray Bradbury. Sub (replacing Bradbury who replaced Saddam) Ian Huntley.
