Kind of encroaching on drol's territory here, but, former president of Ethiopia Negasso Gidada, dead at 75 in Germany:

https://citizen.co.za/news/news-world/2123772/former-ethiopian-president-has-died-in-germany/

Yesterday morning I was thinking about the late Girma Woldegiorgis and went to see what presidents/rulers of Ethiopia were still living. The thing I thought was "This Negasso Gidada is relatively young. We'll probably talk about him in 20 years". The same day he died. :P

Oh, and her brother-in-law was Baron Harkonnen, the Duke of Giedi Prime who died in a terrorist attack in 1965.

Ambachev Mekonnen and Se'are Mekonnen, an Ethiopian politican and an Ethiopian general, were killed in a coup attempt:

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/06/ethiopia-army-chief-staff-shot-regional-coup-attempt-190623051059851.html

When I saw those names, I was immediately reminded of my joke above, refering to a post by alt obits guy mentioning the Prince Mekonnen:

Mr Bongo is apparently still in hospital in Morocco, and the coup seems to be over.

Ali Bongo hospitalized in London, though government denies everything.

So Ali Hassan Mwinyi is now the only African strongman born in 1925 left. There are still 4 iconic people from 1924 (Moi, Mugabe, Kaunda, Jawara) and only one from 1926 (disgusting Senegal overlord Abdoulaye Wade). Then nothing till 1929 (Sam Nujoma and Marcelino Dos Santos). If I have to predict their death orders I'd say:

1)Jawara

2)Mugabe

3)Mwinyi

4)Kaunda

5)Dos Santos

6)Moi

7)Nujoma

8)Wade

So far so good !

Tunisian president Ben Ali, toppled in the Arab Spring, hospitalised "after years of treatment of prostate cancer":

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2019/09/deposed-tunisian-president-ben-ali-hospital-election-190913093637253.html

Ben Ali discharged from hospital and allowed to return to Tunisia. Anyway he does not seem intentioned to go right now.

So here's who went to Bobby Mugs's funeral and who didn't. Kenneth Kaunda was there though he needed aide to stand up, aide provided by Nigeria's seemingly ethernal Olasegun Obasanjo. BTW a Zambian prophet has predicted KK will die before his 96th birthday like Mandela and Mugabe (and Jawara I add). Also there were Sam Nujoma (who will be with us for a long long time) and his lapdog Pohamba.

What are the notable absences? Daniel Moi, Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Cleopa Msuya, Abdoulaye Wade, Abdou Diouf, Yakubu Gowon weren't there. I'm surprised about Mwinyi who took part to Kaunda's 95th birthday just a gew months ago. Just personal reasons or something is up?

Ben Ali seems intentioned to have gone: https://wibqam.com/news/articles/2019/sep/19/tunisian-media-report-death-of-ousted-president-ben-ali/938959/?refer-section=world

By which I mean they are reporting his death. But not necessarily confirmed.
