Divaldo Franco d...ischarged.

Divaldo Franco (97-year-old Spiritist leader) begins cancer treatments (radiotherapy with small doses of chemo). For some reason I doubt his cancer is actually survivable.

Disgraced Louisiana Priest, Lawrence Hecker, has died aged 93. Earlier this month he pleaded guilty to kidnap and rape of a boy in the 70s, and he received a life sentence just before Christmas. The Guardian had been covering his case (here and here) and he may have been of interest for 2025, alas no longer.

According to the wonderful Orthodox media, he is stable and "does not require intensive care". Guess it's kind of a pleasure trip to his birthland.

The Warlock of Tirana undergoes emergency surgery. So they still think he can be saved anyway?

Anastasios extremely critical and intubated, although they seem to claim the worst is over. Suffers from "problems in various vital organs" and they're making "titanic effort" to keep him alive. Too early to say if the intestinal surgery was a success.

I wonder if the doctors actually believe he can be saved. Sounds a bit like his clergy is in denial and pressuring them to do everything to keep him alive.

Anastasios stable, improving and to be extubated. Terminal lucidity, surely?

They are still trying to extube him, but he is on the brink of multiple organ failure.
