It was always a favourite of mine. I would stop in there on my way to my part time job after school. That's genuinely sad – I've been there too. I also noticed that The Fulham Road Picturehouse closed in July, after being open for 94 years. Don't often agree with Hugh Grant, but he has a good point.

Father Brown 209 Posted Wednesday at 23:18 Isn't that the second time Homebase has gone/nearly gone under now? Another one of those that has been posting losses/barely getting by for years. Not a surprise, especially with The Range (who's buying up 75 of the 130 Homebase stores) now standing where Wilko stood.

One near me closed down, and was demolished along with the adjoining shops. The whole block was rebuilt - now includes a nice shiny Lidl - and lo and behold, a Homebase appeared in the precise spot where it died before. I never went in there much. It used to be quite good when Sainsburys owned it, albeit on the expensive side, but at least it was well stocked with proper DIY stuff. But with the changes of ownership it lost its way.

Mine became a The Range funnily enough when it was sold last time. No idea where my nearest Homebase would be and nor have I thought about going to one within the last 10 years anyway. ladyfiona 2,570 Posted Thursday at 02:40 I volunteer practically opposite a Homebase and it is quite popular place to go on a weekend (some staff also use their big car park if ours is full). My dad gets things for DIY. They also seem to sell Christmas stuff in what feels like September.

Toast 16,112 Posted Friday at 11:54 Noooooo ..... TyPhoo is my favourite. The main supermarkets rarely stock it now so I get it from the likes of Home Bargains.
