Apple have just charged me a month's sub and it's still only Sunday. I wasn't expecting to have to do anything before Monday. I haven't received any communication from them so I never agreed to anything. Obviously I have been into Paypal and cancelled all further payments, but Apple say the sub is non-refundable. Arseholes. Edit - they did send a message to the icloud email address that I never use. But it says the sub was due on 11 Jan. That's not a week. So still sharp practice IMO. So the free week included the free weekend you'd already had! Sounds like a deliberately ambiguous offer designed to trap you.

I will sub for a week whenever there's a new series of Slow Horses, but outside of that they can fuck off.
Commtech Sio Bibble 2,372 Posted January 15 Much sadder about Traitors Linda being banished than I was about a certain other Linda today.
Dying Probably 668 Posted January 15 Traitors thoughts... Spoiler Linda going is genuinely surprising. I honestly thought that at this point she was going to Wilf her way to the final and actually pull off a blinder. Minah finally has heat coming towards her and I don't think she has long left now that butter churn has started churning. I think Charlotte will say yes (solely because she hasn't revealed that f***ing Welsh accent crap and I don't think we would know otherwise), but she's definitely a weaker recruit than some other picks. Limiting to the women for the sisterhood to be maintained, Anna + Leanne would be worse (already have heat and are likely to get more), Lisa would be brilliant (probably says yes and would be a great asset), and Francesca would be a great choice if she would actually say yes (gut says she wouldn't).

I've tried various other serials on Apple but haven't really been drawn in by any. Ted Lasso was OK, but way overhyped. I've found a few good movies on there though (and some really shit ones too, it has to be said). Finished off Slow Horses S4 last night (never did make it in one binge, thanks to falling asleep halfway through episode 2). Excellent. To think, had I watched S1 in isolation (i.e not taking in opinions from this forum) I'd have not bothered with subsequent seasons. Jonathan Pryce is excellent in this, but my favourite character is still Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas.

Jonathan Pryce is excellent in this, but my favourite character is still Taverner, played by Kristin Scott Thomas. The first I knew of it was a news item about Mick Jagger doing the title song, and I thought "That sounds interesting". So I read the first book, enjoyed it, and in the fullness of time watched the first episode. Was a bit disappointed as I found it hard to follow, despite having read the book! Anyway I went on to read the whole series and the TV series was getting such good reviews that I went back to it. Yes, KST is perfect as Diana Taverner. She has that ice-cold demeanour, a person who will take no prisoners!

En Passant 3,830 Posted Wednesday at 15:04 Slow Horses is one of the very few programmes I've not been disappointed by in recent history. Deadloch was basically the only other I can think of off the top of my head (they've been filming a series 2 of this, yeay!) edit, actually The Diplomat wasn't bad. The trouble is a lot of the rest is probably halfway decent *if* you haven't seen the same premise a million times before. They end up leaving out major pieces of information so as to keep you guessing and add intrigue but all it does is make you smack your head on the sofa when they suddenly reveal something as a deus ex late on. That and the seemingly endless trait to show the home life and tribulations of every character in detail - No, I don't care that you have marriage problems.....or that your spouse is constantly nagging you about the time you spend at work and not looking after the kids, shopping whatever - yawn. Squid game of any description isn't even on my radar I'm afraid, just not my kind of thing.
Commtech Sio Bibble 2,372 Posted Thursday at 22:40 I'm really disappointed with the ending of tonight's penultimate episode of the traitors. I'm not against the idea of the seer, but I don't think it should be being introduced at this stage of the game. It's meant to be a game of manipulation and skill that is weighed in the favour of the traitors, they're who the show gets its name from after all. To get this far as a traitor and be then told there's a 25% chance of being exposed, through no fault of your own, feels incredibly unfair. It's like giving the faithful the power to murder. If it was before the midpoint of the series I'd be all for it but going into the final with the power is like shooting fish in a very small barrel. I've almost lost interest in the finale tomorrow, Charlotte will try spreading doubt on Frankie, leading to them both being banished. The only wildcard to me is Alexander, it'll come down to how much trust he can build up with Leanne and Jake and how much support he puts behind Frankie, but those two are pretty much guaranteed to take the money. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see it happening any other way. Edit: Also if the seer is a faithful and they choose to investigate another faithful, then the seer can just keep asking for more votes at the final roundtable until it is just themselves and their chosen faithful to guarantee themself 50% of the money.
