Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 I have several that I could mention, but one from my schooldays I played 5-a-side football for my primary school against the cast of Citizen Smith and used to deliver Robert "Wolfie Smith" Lindsay's newspaper
honez 79 Posted February 6, 2006 Me and a mate got drunk one night in a Sydney pub with Tom Oliver (Neighbours character Lou Carpenter.) Jeez he could put 'em away with the best of 'em.
honez 79 Posted February 6, 2006 I also heard that a certain Banshee, being such a debonaire international play boy type, recently spent one night in Paris. Of course, he's such a gentleman, he'll deny it, no doubt. Gawd bless 'im.
Nuclear Nick 0 Posted February 6, 2006 I have had a cup of tea with Cherie Blair in 10 Downing Street back in 2000. It wasn't great - she'd just given birth to Leo and the veins on her head were all over the place. Oh, and Paddy Ashdown walked into me with a cream cake on one of the balconies looking over the Thames from the Houses of Parliament. On a lesser scales, also had lunch with Toyah Wilcox and Jack Ryder (Jamie from EastEnders). Ryder was a complete ass. Oh, and played in a charity football match in a Celebrity XI v Whitstable Town XI to raise money for a health care campaign charity. Only real celeb was former England cricketer Dean Headley, who refused to smoke a roll-up at half-time because he considered it below him. Whitstable Town XI won either 5-4 or 4-3, I can't remember. Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 Lemmy sat and talked to me when I broke my nose during the Guns 'n' Roses set at Donnington 1988, nice bloke, he even bought me a pint. When my dad worked at South Kensington Postal Sorting Office, I was given the job of handing Frank Oz his letters when he came in to collect them. It was during the summer holidays so I would sometimes go with him to work to earn some extra pocket money. oh and I once trod on Bob Dylan's foot whilst walking down Carnaby Street in '87 while Dylan was in London filming "Hearts of Fire" Once jammed with Francis Rossi & Ricky Parfitt one night whilst drinking and getting stoned near Teddington Lock. Ricky appeared on GMTV the following morning and boldly told Anne Diamond and Nick Owen that he'd quit drinking, even though his eyes were slightly bloodshot from the night before
Lady Die 63 Posted February 6, 2006 I was at school with Dot Cotton's (real-life) daughter & at uni with a Pet Shop Boy (the one you wouldn't know if you tripped over him). And Will Young did the Alpha course at my sister's church (very suss)

MyBrainHurts2 4 Posted February 6, 2006 I used to work in a psychiatric hospital that was frequented by the US entertainment industry (patient and visitor). For legal reasons, I can't begin to list the celebs I've brushed against. I did have a number of run-ins with Stacy Keibler while growing up, although I haven't talked to her since I graduated college - that, I can talk about. I did try to drunkenly talk with Charla (the dwarf from The Amazing Race) at a party in college, but got c***-blocked by a co-worker. Also asked to keep a future one-hit wonder entertained while she was in town for vacation (I was a friend of her cousin's) but since I was 20 and she was 14...it wasn't happening. Can you say 'jailbait'?

Handrejka 1,903 Posted February 6, 2006 Saw Neil Tennant in a gay club in St. Peteresburg Was in film production society at Uni with Brian Blessed's nephew Saw Sandra Dickinson at the Doctor Who exhibition in Brighton. She spent ages looking at ex-husband Peter Davison's death scene then whizzed through the rest of the exhibit My Norman Wisdom/Jeremy Clarkson encounters you know about Oh and i got chatted up by the guy from Ohio Express which was quite funny. I think that's it, my mum has loads though.
Star Crossed 33 Posted February 6, 2006 I did have a number of run-ins with Stacy Keibler I do have a number of Stacy Keibler-related fantasies MyBrainHurts2, you lucky, lucky devil. All of my celeb claims-to-fame revolve around my work in various hotels in my youth. The ones I can remember, in order of magnitude:- Elle "the body" MacPherson - did her room service once at Claridges. I asked her out on a date, then instantly apologised and asked her not to tell the manager. She never really replied to my question so, technically, she's still thinking about it. Patrick Moore - served him breakfast. The consumate gentleman. Norris McWhirter - served him breakfast at same time as above. Very polite. Chris Bonnington (mountaineer) - breakfast at an hotel in Aviemore. Full english, 2 pots of tea. Jeremy Healy (Dance music DJ) - room service again. A tad the worse for "clubbing", nice chap though. Billy Connolly - room service. Annoying wife. "do you know who my husband is?" Sandy Toksvig - room service and dinner. Bedside table like a branch of Boots. Robert Wiseman (milk magnate) - dinner. Good tipper. Richer than Croesus. I think that's about all. Wish I'd gone to school with Stacy Keibler.
Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 Oh and I met Sir Bobby Moore at London Zoo, I don't really remember it as I was only 6 months old and from what my mum tells me, I dribbled on his shoulder when he picked me up
Gunjaman5000 30 Posted February 6, 2006 I once congratulated Keith Richards on what a great album Sergeant Peppers was. Luckily, we both saw the funny side.

Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 I thought he did get a knighthood shortly before he died, if I'm wrong I'll amend it to just read "Bobby Moore"
I see dead people 0 Posted February 6, 2006 I have had a fair share of celeb encounters, but I don’t like to talk about it. But since you asked, one such celebrity and probably the most notorious and popular in the UK is Les Dennis , it was May 2004, location Washington pub , Belsize Park…..it was a warm evening and a group of us were successfully lubricated, after noticing Les Dennis almost on his lonesome, we ‘dragged’ Les into our drinking sesh. Anyway Les “bloody” Dennis (as we now called him) joined us afterwards at a friends house, (I shared a taxi with him – he paid). I got his mobile number as he said he would attend a party I was organising. I texted him the day before the party to remind him and he replied saying he would attend. He did not turn up, Les “Bloody” Dennis!
Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 DDT, yes that's the same Donnington where 2 people were crushed to death. I missed most of the G'n'R set as the neanderthal boyfriend of an old schoolfriend decided to punch me in the face because I was giving my friend a hug. All I recall was "Oi! that's my girlfriend!!" and then the searing pain as his fist connected with my nose
Josco 49 Posted February 6, 2006 Never had any dealings with anyone that could be regarded as a celebrity.
Nuclear Nick 0 Posted February 6, 2006 I thought he did get a knighthood shortly before he died, if I'm wrong I'll amend it to just read "Bobby Moore" It doesn't matter. I'm just pointing out how outrageous it was that all he never got a knighthood, but only an OBE. Lazy journos always get it wrong, as do current footballers. Phantom 2,533 Posted February 6, 2006 It doesn't matter. I'm just pointing out how outrageous it was that all he never got a knighthood, but only an OBE. Ahh, yes that is totally ridiculous Oh and another one I've got, While working for a security company at Canary Wharf during its construction, my manager who was notorious for spelling mistakes sent a memo around regarding some VIP visitors. I went through the memo with a red pen, underlining all the spelling errors and wrote on the top "2/10 - must try harder". And for my punishment, I had to escort the VIPs around the construction site. John Major and Michael Heseltine
Boudicca 702 Posted February 6, 2006 Mr Boudicca used to be in the entertainment industry, and has worked with Queen, Pink Floyd and David Beckham. On his travels he has also been fortunate enough to meet George Clooney and Johnny Depp. What a shame he changed career. Think of the dinner parties we could have had!(And the inside info I would have had access to )
Paul Bearer 6,101 Posted February 6, 2006 I don't think I'd like to meet any slebs. I have seen a few "in real life" so to speak Norris from Coronation Street, a (very) brief glimpse of Jimmy Saville when he was doing a sponsored walk about 35 years ago, Martin Shaw about 20 years ago, yes I know I should get out more. Probably a few more but can't be arsed thinking too hard to remember who they were.
Tempus Fugit 214 Posted February 6, 2006 Only two "celebs" that I've bumped into are Dudley Sutton (Tinker in "Lovejoy") and James Fleet (Hugo in "The Vicar of Dibley). I'm not counting politicians as celebs mind.
