Former journalist at The Times, Phil Bassett, has reportedly died (who dares question Lord Adonis?). Hubby of Elizabeth Symons, Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean.

No reward.  Searched for him in the Deathlist under 'Philip Bassett' and found nothing.  Original poster only referred to him as 'Phil Bassett'.  His death notices used his full name.  Will make a mental note of the discrepancy.

Deathlist Tips:

I search using surnames only if possible, as first names are often contracted. Also, if he's been dead a while, it's worth checking the thread for around that time to see if it's been posted there already. ;)

Former Chicago journalist and civil rights activist Sherwood Ross has died.  He was 85.

Interesting name.  I had an 8th grade social studies teacher (great guy fwiw) named Sherwood.   He would probably be around 85 too if alive.  Can't be many of those roaming the earth.

I recall having a university prof who was also a first nations (native) activist.  Dead about a dozen years.  As for the first name, only one I've ever heard of previously is TV guru Sherwood Stewart.

Edit:  That should read TV guru Sherwood Schwartz, who is apparently not the only Sherwood I know.  Sherwood Stewart is a well-known tennis player in the 70s/80s, most noted for his success alongside long-time doubles player Ferdie Taygan.

Paul Obis, the founder of 'Vegetarian Times' magazine, has died at age 66.  Ironically, Obis was only mostly a vegetarian, as he apparently liked a good steak.  I guess that falls in the 'somewhat pregnant' category of rationalization.

Probably more pertinently he was the writer of all Welsh-interest obituaries for the Indie.

Ahhh “if only”.

If only the Cup had a July instead of June, SirC would have three hits in 18 days.

Another installment in Too Little Too Late — Tom Crawford, the dean of state Capitol journalists who documented Georgia politics over more than three decades, has died. He was 67.  He created ‘The Georgia Report’ catering to an underserved audience of lobbyists, lawyers and politicos that offered readers an incisive, detail-oriented window into the inner workings of legislators.

RIP my good man.
