Grim_Rita 4 Posted December 22, 2004 Does anyone have d.o.bs for the above? Btw if youre not sure who they are Dr Hans Muench is the last surviving doctor from Auschwitz and Sidney Wood is the oldest living winner of Wimbledon and the Davis Cup. Cheers! Guest Guest_Viva Voce Posted December 22, 2004 SS-Unterstrumführer Dr. Hans Meunch Born: 14 May 1911 Served at Dachau 1945 – may have worked at the "Waffen-SS Hygiene Institute" from here:http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic.php?t=40309
weatherman90 7 Posted December 22, 2004 Sounds pretty promising, But are they famous enough? I could maybe see the Holocaust Doctor considering that was a huge disaster.
Anubis the Jackal 77 Posted December 22, 2004 Interestingly enough, Sidney Wood won the only 'walkover' Wimbledon final in 1931 when opponent Frank X. Shields turned over his ankle. Wonder what the X. stood for? Xylophone? Xenon?
MadMac 98 Posted December 22, 2004 Possibly Xavier (after St. Francis Xavier)?

Octopus of Odstock 2,215 Posted July 17, 2007 He was a monster, Münch *groan* That's even worse than Cowboy Ronnie's Soe Win joke To clear a few things up:- Sidney Wood is still alive - a good candidate all round, me thinks. Dr Munch apparently died in 2001. Frank Shields middle name was indeed Xavier. so it says here.
harrymcnallysblueandwhitearmy 1,704 Posted July 17, 2007 Sidney Wood is still alive - a good candidate all round, me thinks. Winning Wimbledon is obviously good for one's longevity - the men's champs from 1947-53, Jack Kramer, Bob Falkenburg, Ted Schroeder, Budge Patty, Dick Savitt, Frank Sedgman and Vic Seixas would all appear to be alive and in their 80s. maryportfuncity 10,684 Posted July 17, 2007 Frank Xavier Shields - incidentally - is Brooke Shields grandad, also a somewhat colourful character who had many a spat, many a drink, laid hands on at least one wife and finally succombed to his third heart attack. Cowboy Ronnie 78 Posted July 17, 2007 He was a monster, Münch Dr Munch apparently died in 2001. apparently his family members are very small, being Munch kin and all.

Banshees Scream 110 Posted July 17, 2007 It reminds me of that show 'Little People - Big World' but to be perfectly honest I don't feel bad for them. apparently his family members are very small, being Munch kin and all.

Shields turned over his ankle. I always wondered why Brooke Shields married Andre Agassi, whose previous and subsequent choice of paramours leaves something to be desired, at least when it comes to noses. The Wimbledon connection explains it all. Thanks MPFC and AtJ, just the sort of obscure trivia that makes the DL so worthwhile.
