Words We Dislike

Car journalists are only using the lexicon the OEMs are using.  My Volvo refers to the sound system as the infotainment module.

They'd do well to ignore the manufacturers. I thought my Jaguar had 'headlights'. No, actually; it has 'Signature Matrix', according to the car's menus. It's all just a load of pretentious piffle.

So pretentious that to replace my infotainment module is just south of $2000 U.S.

I just heard some business twat use the word "confidicing" or it might have been "confidencing" as in whether a business has confidence in investing in the UK.

Utter, utter bollocks. Management-speak piffle.

And if I hear "oftentimes" once more this festive season, my telly may not survive a slipper attack!

I really don't like the expansion of "grab" to mean have, get or obtain.

"Let's grab a coffee"

Such a rude, pushy expression.

In the words of Depeche Mode

The grabbing hands grab all they can
All for themselves, after all

I might have said this already but ‘onboarding’ - FUCK OFF. We recently had a new member of staff that I was instructed to ‘onboard’.  No, I fucking won’t.   I will show her where the bogs are and how to order stationery.
